Job Description

The Assistant Manager - Credit plays a crucial role in managing the credit department and ensuring effective implementation of credit policies and procedures within the organization. This role involves assessing the creditworthiness of clients, managing credit limits, and continuously monitoring credit exposure. The Assistant Manager is responsible for minimizing credit risk while supporting the business's growth objectives. Strong analytical skills and a keen eye for detail are essential in this position as you will be conducting financial analyses, preparing reports, and making recommendations on credit limits and terms. Collaboration with various departments is necessary to provide excellent customer service and optimize the credit process. Additionally, this position offers an opportunity to develop and refine your leadership skills by supervising and mentoring junior credit staff.


Responsibilities

  • Analyze financial statements to assess credit risk and creditworthiness.
  • Develop and maintain effective credit policies and procedures within the organization.
  • Monitor and manage customer accounts to minimize exposure to credit risk.
  • Approve or recommend credit limits based on thorough financial analysis.
  • Collaborate with sales teams to understand client needs and manage credit terms.
  • Prepare comprehensive credit reports for management review and decision-making.
  • Supervise and mentor junior credit staff, providing guidance and support.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies at all times.
  • Conduct regular reviews of existing accounts to evaluate credit status changes.
  • Maintain accurate records of all credit activities and transactions.
  • Handle escalated customer inquiries regarding credit terms and conditions.
  • Assist in developing strategies to improve credit scoring and risk assessment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related fields required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in credit risk management or analysis.
  • Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in financial analysis software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrable ability to develop and mentor junior team members effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work cross-functionally.
  • Ability to work independently and make informed decisions under pressure.
