Job Description

An Accounts Assistant is a financial professional who plays a crucial role in maintaining the financial health of an organization. This position involves managing day-to-day accounting activities, ensuring the accuracy of financial information, and supporting senior accountants and financial managers with various tasks. The ideal candidate for this role should have a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent numerical skills, and a keen eye for detail. As an Accounts Assistant, you will be responsible for various accounts-related tasks such as invoicing, reconciling accounts, and preparing financial reports. Your contributions will ensure the smooth operation of the finance department and the overall financial stability of the organization.


Responsibilities

  • Assist in maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records and ledgers.
  • Prepare and process invoices for customers and suppliers in a timely manner.
  • Assist in the reconciliation of bank statements and accounts monthly.
  • Support the preparation of monthly and annual financial reports and statements.
  • Assist in budget preparation and monitor organizational spending patterns.
  • Handle accounts payable and receivable ensuring all payments are accurate.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure accurate and timely financial data.
  • Assist in audit preparations and contribute to external and internal audits.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal controls are maintained.
  • Provide administrative support to accountants and other financial personnel.
  • Respond to inquiries and provide information regarding bills and accounts.
  • Keep track of financial documentation ensuring they are organized and secure.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in a similar accounting role.
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks or Sage is required.
  • Strong numeracy skills with an excellent understanding of accounting principles.
  • Highly organized with good attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
