  • Strive: We are driven and determined.
  • Excellence: We seek to deliver the best.
  • Responsibility: We do what’s right for our people and the planet.

What we need:

The Project Manager – Data Centre will own end-to-end delivery of data centre projects, from initial design and planning through engineering, procurement, construction, and final handover. This role requires a strong technical foundation in mission-critical infrastructure, excellent stakeholder management skills, and the ability to coordinate across design, engineering, sales, construction, and operations teams to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to Digital Edge's quality and uptime standards.

Key responsibilities:

1. Design & Planning

  • Lead pre-construction planning, including site evaluation, feasibility studies, and capacity planning for new builds, retrofits, and expansions.
  • Collaborate with architects, MEP consultants, and design engineers to develop data center design packages (electrical, mechanical, cooling, fire/life safety, security).
  • Review and validate design documents against Tier III/IV standards, local codes, and Digital Edge's technical specifications.
  • Manage design reviews (30%/60%/90%/100%) and ensure timely sign-off from internal and external stakeholders.

2. Engineering Coordination

  • Act as the primary liaison between engineering consultants, MEP contractors, and internal technical teams.
  • Oversee value engineering exercises to balance cost, schedule, and performance/reliability requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with uptime, redundancy (N, N+1, 2N), and energy efficiency (PUE) targets.
  • Coordinate technical due diligence for new sites and colocation builds.

3. Sales & Customer Support

  • Partner with the sales and business development teams on customer-driven build-to-suit or custom deployment requirements.
  • Support pre-sales technical discussions, capacity commitments, and delivery timelines for prospective clients.
  • Translate customer requirements into scope, schedule, and budget inputs for project planning.
  • Participate in customer-facing project updates for colocation/wholesale clients during construction.

4. Execution & Delivery

  • Develop and maintain the master project schedule, budget, and risk register across all phases of the project lifecycle.
  • Manage general contractors, MEP contractors, and specialty vendors (generators, UPS, cooling, BMS/EPMS, fire suppression, security systems).
  • Conduct regular site walks, progress reviews, and quality inspections to ensure adherence to design intent and safety standards.
  • Track and report on project KPIs: schedule adherence, budget variance, safety incidents, and quality/punch-list closure.
  • Manage change orders, variations, and claims in coordination with procurement and finance.

5. Commissioning & Handover

  • Oversee Level 3/4/5 commissioning (Cx) activities in coordination with commissioning agents and operations teams.
  • Ensure integrated systems testing (IST) is completed and documented prior to go-live.
  • Lead the transition from construction to operations, including as-built documentation, O&M manuals, and training handover to facilities/operations teams.
  • Support punch-list closure and defect liability period (DLP) management post-handover.

6. Stakeholder & Vendor Management

  • Manage relationships with landlords, utility providers, local authorities, and permitting agencies.
  • Chair regular project meetings with internal stakeholders (design, engineering, operations, sales, finance) and external partners (contractors, consultants).
  • Prepare and present project status reports to senior leadership and, where relevant, to customers/investors.
  • Actively champion and comply with policies and procedures related to workplace health & safety, information security, environmental, quality, energy management systems, incident management, and applicable legal and regulatory requirements.

The successful candidate:

  • 12-15 years of project management experience, with a minimum of 5 years specifically in data centre design, construction, and delivery.
  • Demonstrated experience managing the full project lifecycle: design, planning, engineering coordination, sales support, execution, and delivery.
  • Prior experience with mission-critical facilities (data centres, semiconductor fabs, hospitals, or similar) strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with colocation/wholesale data centre providers or hyperscale customers is a plus.
  • Existing network within the data centre industry (contractors, MEP consultants, equipment vendors) is a strong advantage.

Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of data centre electrical and mechanical systems (UPS, generators, switchgear, CRAC/CRAH, chillers, cooling towers, BMS/EPMS).
  • Familiarity with Uptime Institute Tier standards and/or TIA-942 guidelines.
  • Working knowledge of commissioning processes (Cx Levels 1–5) and integrated systems testing.
  • Proficiency with project management tools (MS Project, Primavera P6, Procore, or similar) and reporting tools (Excel, Power BI).

Actively champion and implement the organization’s policies on health & safety, environment, energy, quality, information security, and business continuity, ensuring adherence to incident reporting, legal, and regulatory requirements.

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil) or Construction Management; advanced degree a plus.
  • PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent project management certification preferred.
  • Additional certifications (CDCP, CDCS, CDCE, LEED AP) are a plus.
