Product Owner

Brief Description

As a member of the development team, the Product Owner provides clarity to the technical team about new features and improvements to products and services. All work is prioritized together with Product Managers goal to deliver value to all stakeholders. Product Owners specifies with input from Product Managers, Product Expert and other sources, new functionality and improvements to existing functionality, and ensure that the team understand the specifications.

Software is developed according to Scrum principles.

Job Overview, Roles & Key Responsibilities : -

Product owners are accountable for: -

• Develop cases, and prioritize stories, epics, and features to ensure work aligns with Product Managers product strategy.
• Develop detailed product specifications and ensure they’re clearly understood by relevant teams.
• Maintain a prioritized backlog for products and services.
• Plan and follow up development sprints with team.
• Be available for the development teams to clarify questions during sprints.
• Mitigate roadblocks to achieving sprint/release goals.
• Participates in coordination meeting between Product Owners to resolve dependencies and to optimize the development throughput.

Required Skills/Behaviours to be successful in this role

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in related discipline
• Certificate of competency as Master Mariner, Chief Engineer is desirable
• 5 or more years of experience in product development
• Proficiency with applicable project management tools and technology
• In-depth knowledge of agile methodology for project management
• Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of the Scrum process
• Practical Experience on board ships in a senior management position is desirable
• Fluent in English, oral, and writing
• Excellent communication skills to effectively convey technical information and specifications to adequate stakeholders
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
• Ability to effectively manage conflicting needs of stakeholders
