Job Description: PGT Political Science Teacher

Role Summary

We are looking for a qualified, experienced, and dedicated PGT Political Science Teacher for a CBSE-affiliated boarding school in Nainital, Uttarakhand.

The ideal candidate must have at least 4–5 years of experience teaching Political Science at the senior secondary level and possess a strong command of the subject, effective classroom management skills, and the ability to prepare students for CBSE Board examinations.

Candidates with prior teaching experience in a residential or boarding school will be preferred. As this is a boarding-school position, the candidate must be comfortable conducting evening prep classes and providing academic support to students beyond regular classroom hours.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach Political Science to senior secondary students in accordance with the CBSE curriculum and prescribed syllabus.
  

• Plan and deliver effective, engaging, and structured lessons aligned with academic objectives.
  

• Develop lesson plans, teaching materials, assignments, worksheets, and assessment tools.
  

• Prepare students for CBSE Board examinations through regular assessments, revision sessions, practice papers, and doubt-clearing classes.
  

• Explain political concepts, political theories, the Indian Constitution, governance, political institutions, and contemporary political developments in an accessible manner.
  

• Evaluate students assignments, projects, classwork, and examination papers, providing constructive feedback.
  

• Monitor students academic progress and identify areas requiring additional attention.
  

• Conduct remedial sessions and individual doubt-clearing classes for students who need extra academic support.
  

• Conduct evening prep classes as part of the boarding schools academic routine.
  

• Maintain discipline, encourage classroom participation, and foster analytical thinking and informed discussion.
  

• Coordinate with the academic coordinator, school management, and other faculty members regarding academic planning and student performance.
  

• Maintain academic records, attendance, assessment results, and other required documentation.
  

• Participate in parent-teacher meetings, staff meetings, school events, and other academic responsibilities as assigned.
  

Mandatory Qualifications & Experience

• M.A. in Political Science – Mandatory.
  

• B.Ed. – Mandatory.
  

• Minimum 4–5 years of teaching experience as a PGT Political Science Teacher or in a similar senior secondary teaching role.
  

• Strong knowledge of the CBSE curriculum and senior secondary Political Science syllabus.
  

• Good command of the subject, with the ability to explain complex political concepts clearly.
  

• Excellent communication, classroom management, and student-engagement skills.
  

• Willingness to work in a residential school environment and conduct evening prep classes.
  

Preferred Candidate Profile

• Candidates with prior experience in a CBSE-affiliated school will be preferred.
  

• Experience working in a boarding or residential school will be an added advantage.
  

• Experience preparing students for Class XI and XII examinations and CBSE Board assessments is desirable.
  

• Ability to mentor students, provide individual academic support, and maintain a disciplined learning environment.
  

• A responsible, student-focused, and professionally committed approach to teaching.
  

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary: ₹40,000–₹45,000 per month, depending on experience, qualifications, and overall suitability.

Important Requirement
