Job Description
Description
The Water Resources Engineer will support water, wastewater, stormwater, and water resource planning projects through hydraulic and hydrologic modeling, engineering analysis, and preparation of technical design deliverables. This role requires strong technical skills in event-based hydrologic analysis, watershed modeling, floodplain evaluation, and hydraulic system assessment. The engineer will use modeling tools such as WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS, InfoSWMM, EPASWMM, HEC-HMS, and HEC-RAS to support system planning, master planning, flood risk assessments, and infrastructure design. The position also involves spatial data analysis and mapping using ESRI ArcGIS, along with close coordination across multidisciplinary teams. Strong communication skills, analytical abilities, and attention to detail are essential for success in this role.
Responsibilities
Perform hydraulic and hydrologic modeling for water, wastewater, and stormwater systems using tools such as WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS, InfoSWMM, HEC-HMS, and HEC-RAS.
Support water resource planning studies, event-based hydrologic analyses, watershed evaluations, and floodplain assessments.
Use HEC-HMS and HEC-RAS to evaluate flood depth, flow routing, channel behavior, and other system responses.
Use ESRI ArcGIS to map watershed boundaries, land use/land cover, soil classifications, LiDAR surfaces, hydraulic structures, and other spatial datasets.
Incorporate site-specific topography, geotechnical data, survey information, and existing infrastructure into hydrologic and hydraulic models.
Support engineering calculations related to pipeline hydraulics, pump system behavior, stormwater conveyance, basin sizing, and grading/drainage analysis.
Coordinate modeling results with civil, structural, mechanical, and process engineering teams to support design evaluations and optimize project solutions.
Assist in preparing plans, specifications, reports, and technical documentation for water, wastewater, stormwater, and water resource projects.
Maintain modeling datasets, follow established workflows, and perform quality checks to ensure accuracy and consistency.
Collaborate with US-based project managers and engineers to support project delivery and meet schedule and quality expectations.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, or a related discipline from a recognized institution.
Strong foundation in civil engineering hydraulics and hydrology, including watershed modeling, floodplain analysis, stormwater hydrology, and pipeline system behavior.
Proficiency in at least one hydraulic modeling tool (SewerGEMS, InfoSWMM, WaterGEMS, StormCAD, or CivilStorm) and at least one hydrologic or flood modeling tool (SWMM, HEC-HMS, or HEC-RAS). Experience with multiple tools is a plus.
Minimum 1–10 years of experience in water resources, hydraulics, hydrology, or related civil engineering work. Candidates with fewer years of experience should demonstrate strong communication skills, solid technical fundamentals, and the ability to learn quickly.
Proficiency with ESRI ArcGIS for watershed delineation, spatial data analysis, mapping, and preparation of model inputs.
Ability to interpret LiDAR, geotechnical information, survey data, and hydraulic structure details for use in modeling.
Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, OneNote)
Excellent communication skills in English (verbal & written).
This job posting will remain open a minimum of 72 hours and on an ongoing basis until filled.
