Technical Sales Construction Chemicals - Dispersions Business Unit

Objectives of the Position

Why does this position exist? With what permanent objectives?

  • Technical Know-How: In-depth knowledge of various technologies, materials and practices followed in Construction and Infrastructure industry in India. Specific high level knowledge of Polymers, additives and detail formulations required for Construction and infrastructure related industry and application. Awareness of various ASTM, EN and other relevant standards applicable to construction industry in India.
  • Work Planning & Organizing: Planning and organizing formulation and application related work packages for self as well as other lab resources.
  • Technical Communication with Impact: Sensitive to customer needs, industry trends, and insights.
  • Combine Technical & Customer Perspectives: Identify customers technical and manufacturing needs and provide total solution.
  • Technical Sales: Experience in sales will be an added advantage.

Main Areas of Responsibilities and Key Activities

Strategic- Key Activities:

  • Direct Interaction with Customers (mostly independently, or with minimal supervision)
  • Manage Projects: Trouble Shooting, Formulation upgrade for customers with R&D, production, Sales etc.
  • Providing Technical guidance on product, industry, customer to Technical Service, Sales and customers as needed for business development.
  • Drive innovation: In coordination with sales, focus on delivering new product development in time bound manner to increase overall market share at existing customers. Develop new customers for existing applications and new customers for existing/new application. .

  • Seek mutual understanding and alignment with Customers
  • Identify customers technical or manufacturing needs and provide total solutions accordingly.
  • Utilize customer feedback to create solutions or proposals that capture new business opportunities and differentiate BASF from a competitor.
  • Identify market need and translate the same to R&D/ Tech Service/ Marketing to find the right solution. Provide input to regional marketing/R&D for new product development to meet market requirements
  • Support development of technical skills of the TS team for products, formulations and application

Operational:

  • In-depth knowledge in Construction, Infrastructure and coatings products, technology, customers and industry.
  • Sensitive to customer needs, industry trends and insights. Bring them to BASF and translate them to product proposal to customers
  • Proactively upgrade oneself on current market practices, industry requirements, standards etc and share this internally for strategic alignment.
  • Prepare sales toolkits which can be used for product promotion by sales/ distribution channels.
  • Expert in solving technical problems by customer with strong analytical thinking and perseverance to address the root cause
