Your Role

As part of the Process Solutions commercial organization, you are a member of the APeC Customer Applications (CA) Upstream team APeC, responsible for technical application support and business development activities. You will cover India, with the final territory scope to be confirmed based on

regional priorities. You will leverage your upstream process expertise and strategic insights to:

  • Support commercial teams in identifying, qualifying, and winning new opportunities, with a focus on regional priority customers and projects.
  • Partner closely with Sales, MSAT, and Franchise teams to design integrated solutions and value propositions tailored to local market needs.
  • Drive adoption of Merck’s upstream technologies (e.g., CHOZN cell line, cell culture media, USP chemicals, Liquid buffers and process intensification tools) by translating technical advantages into business value.
  • Represent the technical voice of APeC customers in global discussions, ensuring regional perspectives are reflected in portfolio and strategy development.
  • Lead customer-facing technical engagements, seminars, and workshops, promoting best practices and sharing case studies from regional success stories.
  • Contribute to regional strategic initiatives such as local manufacturing (e.g., Daejeon Plant), new technology launches, and customer segmentation programs.
  • Act as a bridge between field feedback and internal stakeholders (Franchise, R&D, Quality, and Supply Chain) to support sustainable growth and customer satisfaction.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, or Chemical Engineering; Master’s or PhD in related field preferred; additional experience in Business or Marketing preferred
  • >5 years relevant technical experience in the life science industry, ideally with hands on Upstream experience.
  • Knowledge of sales cycles from prospecting to closure in the Biopharmaceutical industry and relevant commercial experience.
  • Experience with biological production across modalities including, but not limited to, mAbs, ADCs, vaccines, mRNA, Cell and/or Gene therapy.
  • Ability to manage complex and dynamic projects with a variety of key stakeholders.
