Role scope
To prepare the initial design and planning of constructions and maintenance. To manage the construction site and ensure the respect of code regulations. To act as the primarily responsible for buildings structural aspects by focusing on load-bearing design and material inspection.
To design and construct buildings and structures that are safe and capable of withstanding the elements to which they will be exposed, as well as improving the structural integrity of existing buildings.
Details / responsibilities
- Assist and contribute to the project to meet its safety targets and advise on safety improvements
- Assist the team senior engineer and leader and be a team player, collaborate, and add value to the assigned project
- Coordinate/Communicate with other disciplines, Contractor, and Client
- Assist and support project senior and leads, managers and directors to manage all aspects of projects from design to implementation and handover
- Ensure all Contractor’s design work conforms to the codes and standards used by the Client or to agreed industry standards
- Perform designing/engineering work/deliverables as part of the team
- Coordinate with the project team internally and in other functions as well as with clients, as required, to develop/finalise design specifications to meet their project needs with the ability to interpret Client specifications
- Quality Assurance – Responsible for working within the provisions and guidelines of the Quality Assurance system
- Identify issues and problems, develop appropriate solutions in conjunction with the senior and lead engineers, and advise Client if necessary, and ask for assistance when required
- If required, assist, support and help in developing junior personnel within the tea
- If required, provide support during fabrication, site construction activities
- Ability to identify and resolve discrepancies and divergences from original proposal / contract by raising technical queries with projects / client
- Keep up to date with the latest developments and technical innovations in Civil/Structural Engineering
- Liaising with other engineers/technicians to ensure updates to technical standards are maintained and disseminated to the team
- Adhere to the best practices, standards, and procedures
- Knowledgeable in carrying out some types of analysis including static, seismic, dynamics, lift, equipment dynamics etc.
- Knowledgeable in the use of computer analysis & design softwares (e.g., STAAD.Pro, SACS, Mat3D, Foundation 3D, RAM, PROKON, LIMCON, Mathcad or similar program)
- Experience in performing adequacy check for some existing pipe rack/pipe support/equipment structure/other etc., and its retrofitting in structural steel and foundation
- Reviewing General arrangement, Layout, Structural, Concrete, architectural drawings and composite layouts based on project requirements
- Produce and review reports, designs, specifications, and contract documents
- Review and contribute to all drafting work for projects using AutoCAD, Tekla, Civil 3D, SPR (Smart Plant Review) or Solid works
- To technically review designs produced and verify completeness to technical and Company standards
- Reviewing and checking vendor drawings and other discipline drawings for civil/structural input
- Providing technical expertise to queries from construction team and suggest resolutions in conjunction with the senior and lead engineers
- Collaborate and interact with construction teams, sub-contractors, architects and outside project developers and consultants
- Performing fieldwork that is necessary to gather field data, check tie-ins and provide construction support
- Reviewing fabrication drawings and other construction submittals for conformance to engineering drawings and specifications
- Undertake design analyses and calculations as required
- Provide overall civil/structural engineering design on projects
- Define and review scope of work, prepare engineering estimates at both proposal and design level and schedule for civil/structural engineering portion of work in a project
- Prepare accurate and complete designs and calculations as required to meet project requirements
- Coordinate with other disciplines and assist civil/structural project team to ensure effective quality product
- Experience should include:

- Perform site development, surface creation, site preparation works including SWPPP, rough grading and finished grading
- Perform storm water drainage, effluents design; manhole and cat basic detailing; water/sanitary sewer design and modelling

- Keep up to date on new engineering processes, techniques, and standards
- Develop and recommend improvements in engineering and design standards to lower cost and improve work quality and facilitate maintenance
Qualifications
- As a minimum bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
- 7-11 years relevant experience
- Work in office and Site based environments
- Capable of using the appropriate software
- Excellent interpersonal and analytical attributes
- Able to effectively communicate technical issues to peers and line manager (written and verbal) and hold presentations to project senior and lead, as well as to Clients when required
- Capability of collating, verifying and handling information and producing/following instructions
- Adequate capability in using engineering knowledge and understanding to apply technical and practical skills
- Adequate knowledge and understanding of technical requirements in own field and level
- Adequate capability in design, development, self-checking and solving engineering problems
- Capability of analysing, integrating and interpreting results
- Capability of reviewing, controlling in own field and level
- Capable of demonstrating ownership of responsibility for work produced
- Communication and interpersonal skills to hold presentation and keep audience interested
