Overview Of The Job

We are seeking a Packaging Product Research & Innovation Leader to drive consumer-centric packaging innovation. This role involves translating deep consumer insights into superior packaging solutions that meet technical, quality, sustainability, and business requirements. The leader will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and external partners to identify, develop, and commercialize innovative packaging. This role will require extensive domestic and sometimes international travel.

Your team

This role will work closely with cross-functional teams including Product Research/Product Development (PR/PD), Brand, Analytics & Insights (A&I), Design, Engineering (P&E), Supply, Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing, and Supply Chain teams, as well as external suppliers.

Responsibilities Of The Role

Develop and bring to life consumer-centric packaging solutions including:

• Develop deep consumer understanding to identify unmet needs and opportunities for packaging innovation.
• Partner with PR/PD, Brand, A&I, and Design teams to translate consumer insights into packaging requirements, design principles, and technical solutions.
• Lead packaging consumer learning plans, consumer testing, and evidence generation to support key business decisions.
• Drive packaging innovation from concept through commercialization, ensuring solutions are consumer-centric, technically robust, manufacturable, and scalable.
• Build organizational capability by integrating consumer understanding into packaging development and innovation processes.
• Lead IMP projects and packaging technical learning plans from idea generation through qualification and commercialization.
• Identify and implement packaging savings opportunities while maintaining product quality and consumer experience.
• Collaborate closely with P&E, Supply, Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing, and Supply Chain teams to deliver business objectives.
• Identify and leverage supplier capabilities, external technologies, and emerging packaging trends to deliver consumer-centric, new packaging technologies, materials, solutions and competitive advantage.
• Lead technical problem-solving and drive resolution of packaging, quality, manufacturing, and supply challenges in collaboration with suppliers and multifunctional teams.
  
  

Role Requirements

• Technical Problem Solving & Innovative Critical Thinking: Ability to guide technical project direction, critically analyze complex problems, and enable innovation to create new products, processes, or capabilities through packaging expertise.
• Strategic Leadership: Skill in developing and leading iterative learning plans, setting clear priorities for technical plans, and integrating diverse approaches like first-principle modeling and resource planning.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration & Influence: Capability to build effective relationships, collaborate across disciplines, and leverage internal/external resources.
• Business Acumen & Continuous Learning: Understanding of the business context, basic commercialization aspects, and a commitment to continuous learning on P&G systems and procedural elements.

Qualifications

Job Qualifications

• Education: M.Sc or M.Tech from top universities with 3 to 5 years of relevant working experience OR PhD in Science or Engineering from top universities with 1 to 2 years of relevant working experience. Candidates with educational background in packaging or packaging technology will be preferred.
• Packaging Expertise: In-depth knowledge of materials, packaging engineering, and translating consumer needs into superior packaging experiences.
