The R&D IT Operations Specialist is responsible for ensuring the reliable operation and continuous improvement of IT solutions supporting global Research & Development environments. This includes supporting laboratory hardware, scientific and engineering applications, instrument PCs, and client‑ and server‑based systems used across R&D. The role contributes to operational excellence by delivering high‑quality IT services aligned with the needs of R&D teams.
Operations
Remote troubleshooting of laboratory hardware (e.g., tablets and printers).
Troubleshooting of software issues and coordination with vendor support for scientific and engineering applications (e.g., Origin, Abaqus, Ansys MCalibration, Matlab, Predici, DesignExpert, Modde, and others).
Troubleshoot client‑ and server‑based applications to ensure stable and reliable operation.
Update and maintain client‑ and server‑based software used in R&D environments.
Support and maintain computers connected to laboratory and measurement devices, including operating system and software updates, coordination with responsible users, and communication with equipment vendors when required.
Ensure the stable operation of instrument control PCs and data acquisition systems in close collaboration with R&D users and external service providers.
Manage license renewals for scientific software, including generating and implementing license files.
Support the creation of software packages according to internal standards and deployment processes.
Renew and maintain webserver certificates in collaboration with internal IT stakeholders.
Demands
Facilitate the creation of IT demands according to internal standards, ensuring proper documentation and alignment with R&D requirements.
What you will need
Educational Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Informatics, Engineering, or a related field.
Fluent in English; German is a plus.
Relevant Experience
Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in IT operations, technical support, or application support.
Experience with laboratory, scientific, or engineering software in R&D environments.
Experience in supporting instrument PCs, laboratory equipment connectivity, and interaction with measurement device vendors is highly desirable.
Familiarity with ITSM frameworks such as ITIL is highly desirable.
Experience with server‑based applications, software licensing, and certificate management is an advantage.

Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a proactive and solution‑oriented mindset.
Excellent communication skills, capable of working effectively with cross‑functional teams in R&D and IT.
High level of ownership, reliability, and attention to detail.
