Job Summary

The Onsite Storage Consultant will be part of NetApp’s 24x7 Professional Services team, supporting Managed Services customers. The role involves providing Level 2/3 support for NetApp storage environments, resolving incidents, managing change and service requests, driving problem management, and executing storage infrastructure upgrades. This position requires strong technical expertise in NetApp technologies, excellent customer-facing skills, and the ability to build strong relationships while delivering high-quality service.

Job Requirements

Provide Level 2/3 support for storage operations including incident, change, and service request management.
Plan and perform firmware and OS upgrades across customer environments.
Troubleshoot and resolve performance issues in NetApp storage systems.
Manage backup and replication technologies such as SnapMirror and IntelliSnap.
Administer and optimise storage environments using tools like OnCommand Unified Manager, Performance Manager, and Cloud Insight.
Collaborate with senior customer teams and internal sales teams to ensure smooth service delivery.
Document incidents, changes, and problem resolutions following ITIL standards.
Design, build, deploy, and test infrastructure solutions and disaster recovery setups.
Maintain strong stakeholder relationships.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across infrastructure and operational processes.

Education

Technical Skills & Experience
Hands-on expertise with NetApp Storage (CDOT & 7-Mode), including deployment, troubleshooting, and upgrades.
Proficiency in Brocade SAN switches and SAN technologies.
Strong understanding of NetApp features: snapshots, failover, provisioning, deduplication, cloning, SnapMirror, IntelliSnap.
Experience with additional NetApp technologies (StorageGRID, E-Series, SolidFire) is a plus.
Scripting knowledge in PowerShell, Python, or Ansible.
Solid understanding of infrastructure platforms such as FlexPod, Cisco UCS, IBM BladeCenter, System X, VMware vSphere, and Microsoft OS.
Strong knowledge of protocols: CIFS, NFS, iSCSI, Fibre Channel.
Familiarity with ITIL methodologies (ITIL Foundation preferred).
Understanding of managed services, outsourcing, and cloud industry practices.
Knowledge of monitoring platforms, WANs, SANs, backup, and DR technologies.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years relevant experience, OR
Master’s degree with 8–10 years experience, OR
PhD with relevant experience, OR
Equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience.
 
Preferred Certifications
NetApp Certified Data Administrator (NCDA)
ITIL Foundation
