Burns & McDonnell India (BMI) T&D Pipelines is looking for a dynamic and self-motivated Lead Process/Mechanical Engineer to support our T&D Pipeline Engineering and Design Team in the Mumbai/Bangalore Office. T&D Pipeline offers depth and breadth of experience in cross-country pipeline projects, RNGs, M&R stations, casing replacements, compressor stations, etc., which covers a wide range of design and project execution experiences.
This position will be responsible for performing engineering and consulting services for clients across the US. Main responsibilities include process & system design of pipeline facility design deliverables. Projects range in size and complexity from small utility regulator station upgrades to large metering and regulation or compressor station projects. This position can influence the growth and success of the Pipeline & Facilities group. Opportunities to advance into leadership roles are available.
The Following Are Some Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Develop an FEED/basic engineering package, develop a feasibility study, and conceptualise study reports.
Expertise in renewable natural gas, compression, natural gas dehydration, green hydrogen, and carbon capture are preferred.
Lead medium- to large-sized projects. Guide and manage the team. Coordinate with other disciplines within BMI and with US team.
Conducted or participated in Safety studies HAZOP
Expert in handling Aspen HYSYS and HTRI
Perform line sizing and pump hydraulics for liquid and gas systems. Knowledge of AFT fathom, and arrow is preferred
Liaise with US Team to develop proposals and plan projects
Prepare and review of discipline deliverables: PFD, UFD, H&MB, P&ID, datasheets, Vendor drawing reviews, etc.
Perform and review calculations and data sheets for Tanks, vessels/Separators, Heat Exchangers, Pumps, Compressors, etc.
Perform & review sizing calculations and prepare data sheets for control valves, instruments, PSVs, etc.
Prepare RFQ/RFP for packages, vendor drawing reviews and Technical Bid evaluation
Prepare and review Line list, Equipment list, Utility summary, Hazardous Area Classification Schedule, Tie-in List, Effluent and Emission Summary, Relief Summary, etc. Use Smart P&ID (Plant-3D) to perform engineering tasks and extract lists.
Provide and maintain quality output for engineering deliverables
Review 3D models using various 3D review software platforms to ensure process design aspects and design integrityWork within a 2D / 3D model environment and review project-specific documents such as piping plans and section views, Piping isometrics, and pipe support layout Understand Laser scan modeling and Preparation of As-Built documents
Adhere quality requirements by following checklist and quality processes/workflows Provide leadership, guidance, instruction, and mentorship to less experienced staff members
Support the development and improvements of department standard work procedures and workflows to support a successful work share approach amongst the various offices for all projects.
Actively contribute and participate in departmental initiatives like knowledge sharing and innovation.
Develop and improve processes, tools, and standards
Support recruitment initiatives within the mech and process discipline.
Effective communication, both verbal and written, and collaboration with USA counterparts.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Qualifications include:
Bachelor’s degree in chemical/mechanical engineering with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience (completion of a master’s degree in a related field may be substituted for one year of experience).
Microsoft Office Tools – MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote
Excellent oral and written communication skills along with strong interpersonal skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Capability of solving difficult problems that require adaptation and modification of standard approaches, techniques, procedures and criteria
