About the Role

The Operational Risk Practitioner serves as a second line of defence, ensuring that risks identified by the business are effectively monitored and mitigated through appropriate controls. The candidate will support risk and operations functions across the respective domain, by assessing operational risk exposure, advising on mitigation strategies, and ensuring adherence to the bank’s risk management framework.

Key Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assess operational risks across the assigned domain.
  • Define and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Risk Registers, and Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), and monitor them regularly.
  • Conduct annual Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSA).
  • Analyze reported incidents and validate corrective and preventive actions.
  • Review and approve product notes from an Operational Risk Management (ORM) perspective.
  • Generate, disseminate, and follow up on dashboards in line with defined procedures and quality standards.
  • Work on internal projects to enhance departmental productivity and implement best industry practices.
  • Ensure adherence to the bank’s operational risk framework and contribute to achieving KRA metrics.

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Support regulatory and internal audits.
  • Collaborate with senior management on various projects and action items.
  • Manage team aspirations and contribute to talent attraction and retention.

What We Are Looking For

Education

  • Graduation: Graduate in any discipline from a recognized institution
  • Post-graduation: Postgraduate in any discipline from a recognized institution
  • Professional Degree Stream: CA

Experience

  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in operational risk management, preferably within financial services.

Skills and Attributes

  • Strong understanding of operational risk frameworks and controls.
  • Experience in Retail Advances and digital lending operations.
  • Proficiency in risk assessment tools and methodologies.
  • Excellent analytical and incident investigation skills.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Ability to manage dashboards, reporting, and regulatory documentation.
  • Leadership skills with a focus on team development and performance.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving mindset.
