The Network Engineer would be responsible for leading, and managing the team in executing the following work:
Supporting network upgrades by replacing legacy telecommunication equipment and time division multiplexing (TDM) era technology
Applying networking principles to assess the type of networking equipment needed on-site to support the site’s needs. Router type, router cards, small form-factor pluggable (SFP), and power requirements will be determined utilizing site survey notes, pictures, 3D scans, and correspondence with site surveyor/design leads
Design functions will include assessing what networking components are necessary, detailing and drafting designs, developing scope of work for installs, assembling part/equipment bill of material (BOM) requests, and supporting design discussions
High level design and detail design for full scale complex utility grid network.
Apply telecom principals to make the network solutions offered more resilient, good usage of network protocols and protection scenarios, attentions to details, utmost care of quality of all deliverables.
Prepare configuration for MPLS, Switches, Routers, SONET etc.
Network analysis of existing grid networks and prepare cutover package solution for channel migration from TDM to packet.
Prepare Network block diagram in detail considering new installation (MPLS nodes) as per the scope, removal of old equipment, Fiber plan, channel plan, synchronization plan, circuit audits, network topology drawing, DC calculation, Panel elevation, QoS values etc.
Maintain the documentation of full project lifecycle including the design revisions, change management, preliminary, construction till as build, maintain the record of transmittal of these packages with client.
Seamless communication with cross functional project stakeholders, team, counterparts.
Ensure project milestones are met on time through effective action planning.
Qualifications
Required Skills / Experience:
Degree in Electrical Engineering (EE) or Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering (EXTC)
3-5 years of experience in telecommunication engineering or network engineering.
Utility network experience would be an added advantage. Should have handled the upgradation projects for the utilities in design, testing or commissioning activity.
Hands-on experience with reputed MPLS devices.
Knowledge about implementation of QoS, Label engineering, MPLS services, PTP synchronization, circuit emulation, packet network architecture, resilient protection scenarios.
Microsoft Visio, Excel, and Word Experience
Strong communication skills,
Experience in Teleprotection couplers in the utility grid.
Knowledge of different IP Networking protocols for routing, switching.
