Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION – NETSUITE ARCHITECT (FIXED TERM CONTRACT - 1 Year)

THE TEAM & THE JOB

The Enterprise Systems NetSuite team owns the support, development and strategic direction of YouGov's NetSuite ERP platform, the system underpinning the company's core finance processes. The team is being reshaped to combine operational analyst support with dedicated architectural capability under the Senior Finance Systems Implementation Manager.

As NetSuite Architect, you will be the expert-level professional providing technical leadership for the platform on a fixed term contract. You will own the overall technical vision and architecture, define the "how" and "what" of solutions on significant and unique issues, and act as the recognised subject matter expert advising senior stakeholders. You will translate the functional vision for the ERP into an architectural plan and guide its execution, maintaining a future-focused approach to scalability, maintainability and long-term platform evolution.

What You Will Be Doing – Key Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end technical vision and architecture for the NetSuite platform, translating business strategy into an architectural roadmap.
  • Design and architect end-to-end NetSuite solutions, including customisations, integrations and workflows, exercising considerable creativity, foresight and judgment.
  • Make high-impact technical decisions on integration patterns, customisation approaches and data models, evaluating trade-offs between business needs, intangibles and technical constraints.
  • Assess and document the existing customised NetSuite landscape (scripts, workflows, forms, integrations) to support future transitions and upgrades.
  • Architect integrations across multiple systems using SuiteTalk, RESTlets and middleware platforms.
  • Define and enforce NetSuite development standards, governance policies and best practices across the platform.
  • Lead complex, enterprise-wide NetSuite initiatives from requirements gathering through deployment and post-go-live support.
  • Conduct solution design reviews, code reviews and performance optimisation assessments, providing expert technical leadership and mentorship to the wider team.
  • Advise senior business and functional stakeholders, developing recommendations and persuading diverse audiences on platform decisions and module/third-party evaluation.
  • Produce comprehensive technical architecture documentation, data models and integration specifications so knowledge is retained beyond the contract term.
  • Work closely with the Senior Finance Systems Implementation Manager, the Senior NetSuite Analyst, Finance stakeholders and third-party providers, staying current with NetSuite platform updates and industry trends.

What You Need To Know (technical & Behavioural Skills/Competencies)

  • 6–8+ years' hands-on NetSuite experience operating as an architect, with a proven track record of leading full implementation lifecycles as a technical leader.
  • Experience architecting solutions independently across multiple implementations or complex enterprise-wide projects, in more than one enterprise-sized organisation.
  • Deep technical expertise across the entire NetSuite platform, including expert knowledge of SuiteScript 2.x (Client, User Event, Scheduled, RESTlets, Map/Reduce) and custom development.
  • Extensive experience with SuiteFlow, SuiteTalk (SOAP/REST), SuiteAnalytics and SuiteBundler, and a deep understanding of NetSuite data architecture, saved searches and custom records.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise architecture patterns and experience with integration platforms (Boomi, Celigo, Workato, MuleSoft or similar).
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and ERP business processes (Order-to-Cash, Procure-to-Pay, Financial Close).
  • Conceptual thinking to work on significant and unique issues where analysis requires evaluation of intangibles, with independent judgment on methods, techniques and evaluation criteria (be accountable).
  • Ability to convey complex, non-routine information and persuade diverse senior stakeholders across multiple cultures, frequently advising others on complex matters (communicate clearly).
  • A collaborative approach to technical leadership, building capability in others rather than holding knowledge (trust each other), and staying current with platform and industry developments (be fast).
  • NetSuite certifications (Administrator, SuiteFoundation; SuiteCloud Developer II preferred) and ideally architect qualifications such as TOGAF or CSA.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field, or equivalent experience.
