Mechanical SPPID Designer

Description

Burns & McDonnell India (BMI) Power Division is looking for a Mechanical SPPID department at our Mumbai Office. The Power Division focuses on power generating facilities, which offer a wide range of design and project execution experiences.

Power group is involved in design and evaluation of mechanical systems associated with coal and natural gas-fired power generation facilities as well as associated support facilities (i.e Gas turbines, Steam Turbines, Heat Recovery Generators and Balance of plant equipment to be designed and constructed as per applicable codes and standards).

The candidate should perform work that involves design skills related to workflows, design standards and procedures.

The Following Are Some Specific Duties & Responsibilities

• Manage and handle project data effectively within the SPPID environment.
• Develop and maintain P&IDs for power plant projects using SPPID, ensuring accuracy and adherence to project standards.
• Understand and resolve data inconsistencies, including checking for duplicate tag numbers and implementing corrections as per P&ID markups.
• Perform global validation checks to maintain the integrity of the design database.
• Extract various lists and reports from the software to support engineering and design activities.
• Assign appropriate materials to components within the P&IDs.
• Create and manage software tickets to address any technical issues or required modifications.
• Collaborate closely with project leads and engineers to understand P&ID requirements and ensure the final output from SPPID meets project specifications.
• Adhere to and implement the established tagging philosophy for all components.
  
  

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
• A minimum of five years of hands-on design experience using SPPID software.
• Proven experience in either Power Plant or Oil and Gas projects is required.
• Advanced understanding and practical experience with SPPID software.
• Proficiency in data handling, including correcting inconsistencies, checking global validations, and extracting lists.
• Solid understanding of P&ID development and tagging philosophy.
• Experience in assigning materials in P&ID and creating software tickets for issue resolution.
