Job Overview
Sustainability, Legal & Compliance is comprised of the following functions: Global legal, Ethics & Compliance, Corporate Legal, Digital Law, IP & Legal Operations and sustainability.
Sustainability, Legal & Compliance has a vital role in enabling and supporting Getinge and its leaders in: managing legal and conduct risk in how business is done, creating a business environment, which embeds responsibility for business ethics and law into daily operations, ensuring better control and predictability for the business on a global scale, as well as, creating a sustainable and responsible business.
Legal team plays a vital role in supporting the business on a global, regional and local level with contractual arrangements, negotiations, risk evaluation, general day-to-day legal support, disputes resolution.
As part of the global Legal team, the Legal counsel in India , will be providing high quality, strategic and practical legal advice, guidance and support for Getinge’s business in India. The intention is that the function will be part of the leadership team of the SSU/BA (if any) in India but also involves close collaboration with the global business/product areas, global sales and service, corporate and group functions, as well as most importantly, other in-house counsels and the overall global SLC team.
Responsible For
Job Responsibilities and Essential Duties
Providing hands-on legal support for the general corporate, governance, business, HR, finance, commercial affairs of Getinges legal entities and operations in India. Identifying and advising on legal and regulatory risks and the legal liabilities associated with the regional business in general as well in specific transactions [Managing relevant contracts with customers and suppliers, contractors, distributors and agents, service providers, software/technology providers, other internal corporate entities, etc.]
Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a variety of agreements, such as product and service supply or purchase agreements, tender documents, distribution agreements, agency agreements, licensing agreements, confidentiality agreements, healthcare provider engagement agreements, training agreements, focus group agreements, clinical trial agreements, grant agreements, as well as, other types of agreements involving transactions of various departments.
In cooperation with the global legal and regional team, drafting and revising contract templates for various transactions, and support the continuous improvement of standard form agreements and legal processes.
Implement relevant parts of global processes and procedures for documentation flow, approvals and reporting consistent with internal processes.
Conducting training for various legal topics.
Keeping abreast of applicable laws and regulations. Keeping abreast of legal issues that could impact the Indian organization.
Manage the litigation and disputes.
Performing other related duties and special projects as required.
Minimum Requirements
At least 7 years of legal experience from a reputable law firm and/or an in-house legal function of a multinational company within the Life Science/Medical Device/Pharma sector, or other relevant business facing the equivalent commercial and regulatory concerns. At least 5 years of experience should be from work in-house and in compliance work in a multinational company.
Experience from working with or in an international operations and foreign owners
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) is essential.
Law degree.

Commercial experience and analytical and negotiation skills, as well as, the ability to work seamlessly with cross-functional teams in a matrix reporting structure.
Solid legal knowledge and experience with focus on corporate, business and commercial laws in the responsible region.
Strong problem-solving, analytical and negotiation skills; mature judgment.
Knowledge of global business and international matrix models.
A team player with a proactive and customer-oriented mind set, providing high-quality legal support, often under time pressure.
Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, along with the ability to communicate effectively with others at all levels of the organization.
Perform work with integrity and responsibility.
Fluent in English and Hindi.
