Lead Electrical Engineer – Transmission & Distribution
Job Positions
Burns & McDonnell India (BMI) T&D Pipelines is looking for dynamic and self-motivated Lead Electrical Engineer to support our T&D Pipeline Engineering and Design Team in the Mumbai Office. T&D Pipeline offers depth and breadth of experience in cross-country pipeline projects, RNG’s, M&R Stations, casing replacements, compressor stations etc., which covers a wide range of design and project execution experiences.
This position will be responsible for performing engineering and consulting services for clients across the US. Main responsibilities include creating the electrical, instrumentation and controls components of pipeline facility design deliverables. Projects range in size and complexity from small utility regulator station upgrades to large metering and regulation or compressor station projects. This position can influence the growth and success of the Pipeline & Facilities group. Opportunities to advance into leadership roles are available.
The Following Are Some Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Position may include full or partial responsibility for the following Electrical tasks:
Development and review of AC & DC power systems, one-line, three-line, schematic diagrams, electrical wiring diagrams, electrical area classification drawings, grounding drawings and lighting plans.
Perform & review of basic calculations: short circuit, cable sizing, voltage drop, conduit sizing & fill, others.
Design and specify electrical equipment including 15kV gear, 5kV gear, medium voltage motor control centers, low voltage motor control centers, transformers, uninterrupted power supplies (UPS), power distribution centers (PDC’s) and other typical electrical equipment.
Perform electrical systems analysis including load flow, short circuit, arc-flash and protective relaying calculations by using tools such as E-Tap & SKM.
Creating & reviewing specifications of Electrical equipment.
Position may include full or partial responsibility of the following assignments in the discipline of Instrumentation & Controls (I&C).
Coordinate with the team with the development of P&IDs, system control philosophies, and alarm setpoints, as well as provide EI&C comments on equipment procurement specifications and packages.
Development and review of network diagrams, instrument location plans, input/output (I/O) lists, instrument index, control philosophy, control narrative, cause & effect, and instrument datasheets.
Design and specify programmable logic controllers (PLC’s), remote terminal units (RTU’s), supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA), and others as required.
Position may include full or partial responsibility of the following general assignments
Participate in preparation of proposals and scope development.
Prepare conceptual designs and material take-offs in preparation for project cost estimates and schedules.
Responsible for Quality Assurance process adherence.
Develop and improve processes, tools, and standards
Provide leadership, training and mentoring to less experienced engineers and team members.
Participate in coordination of design activities with other disciplines located both in India and abroad (Pipeline Facility (Mech), Pipeline, Civil/Structural, etc.)
Support recruitment initiatives within the E&IC discipline.
Effective communication both verbal as well as writing and collaboration with USA Counterpart.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Qualifications include:
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with min 8 years of experience (completion of master’s degree in related field may be substituted for one year of experience).
Experience in the electrical, instrumentation, and control engineering for pipeline facilities such as natural gas metering and regulating stations, storage upgrades, and compressor stations.
Advanced knowledge of industrial standards and codes such as AGA, API, PIP ISO, NFPA, NEC, IEEE
Microsoft Office Tools – MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote
Excellent oral and written communication skills along with strong interpersonal skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Capability of solving difficult problems that require adaptation and modification of standard approaches, techniques, procedures and criteria
Beneficial But Not Mandatory Requirement
Experience with Safety Instrumented System (SIS), Safety Instrumented Functions (SIF), DCS, BMS
