The Compliance personnel is responsible for ensuring that the organization's HR practices, policies, and processes comply with applicable labour laws, regulations, and organizational standards. This role involves monitoring compliance, mitigating risks, and fostering a culture of ethical and legal integrity within the workplace for our Mumbai and Bengaluru office.

  • Regulatory Compliance:
  • Monitor and ensure adherence to labour laws, employment regulations, and industry standards, including but not limited to Minimum Wages Act, Payment of Gratuity Act, EPF & ESI regulations, Equal Opportunity and Anti-Discrimination Laws, Shop and Establishment Act
  • Stay updated on changes in labour laws and regulations, various Govt. notifications and communicate updates to the HR team and leadership
  • Policy and Process Development:
  • Assist in drafting, reviewing, and updating HR policies to ensure compliance with legal requirements.
  • Design and implement compliance frameworks and processes for HR operations, including hiring, termination, compensation, and employee benefits.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of employee handbooks, contracts, and other HR documentation for legal accuracy.
  • Audits and Reporting:
  • Conduct regular internal audits of HR practices to identify compliance risks and address gaps.
  • Conduct monthly vendor audit with the help of compliance consultant.
  • Prepare and maintain compliance-related documentation, ensuring records are audit-ready at all times.
  • Generate and present compliance reports to senior management, highlighting areas of risk and recommendations for improvement.
  • Good knowledge of various IT / Compliance tools related to the job.
  • Experience in preparing PPT presentations for management meetings.
  • Coordinate with POSH Committee and prepare the yearly report.
  • Regular submission of S&E, Employment Exchange, PF, ESIC, PT and other applicable returns.
  • Training and Awareness:
  • Develop and deliver training programs to educate HR teams, managers, and employees on compliance-related topics, such as workplace safety, anti-harassment policies, and labour law updates.
  • Create awareness campaigns to promote a culture of compliance within the organisation.
  • Risk Mitigation and Issue Resolution:
  • Identify potential compliance risks and develop mitigation strategies to address them proactively.
  • Investigate HR-related compliance issues, including employee grievances or disputes related to workplace policies.
  • Act as a point of contact for external regulatory authorities during inspections or audits.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Work closely with legal, finance, and operational teams to ensure compliance requirements are met across all departments.
  • Provide guidance to HR teams on complex compliance issues, such as data privacy, diversity and inclusion mandates, or global employment standards.

Qualifications

  • The candidate should possess overall experience of 10 years, including a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in HR Compliance, Labour Laws, and statutory compliance functions.
  • Proven expertise in developing, implementing, and monitoring compliance frameworks, along with successfully managing statutory, internal, and external audits.
  • Strong working knowledge of the New Wage Code, Shops & Establishments (S&E) Act, Employment Exchange regulations, Provident Fund (PF), ESIC, Professional Tax (PT), and other applicable Labour Laws and statutory compliances.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Law, or a related discipline.
  • Professional certification in Compliance or Human Resources, such as Certified Compliance Professional (CCP), SHRM-CP, or an equivalent credential, will be preferred
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capability to assess compliance risks and recommend effective corrective measures.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively and provide guidance to stakeholders across all organizational levels.
  • Proficiency in HRMS platforms, compliance management systems, and reporting tools.
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational skills to ensure accurate documentation, record maintenance, and compliance reporting.
