Position Overview

The Head – Legal & Company Secretary will lead all legal and secretarial functions of the organization. This role ensures effective legal support for business restructuring, mergers, acquisitions, contracts, and compliance management. Reporting to the Director, the position drives governance, risk management, and statutory compliance across corporate and factory operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all legal & compliance aspects of the organization with focus on commercial issues, litigation, and regulatory adherence.
  • Initiate legal proceedings for recovery of dues and debts from defaulters and debtors.
  • Develop strategies to protect the company’s interests in all legal and business matters.
  • Evaluate legal documents and coordinate with senior lawyers for representation before the Supreme Court, High Court, and other judicial or quasi-judicial bodies.
  • Oversee Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) management and ensure good corporate governance practices.
  • Advise business units, departments, and management on diverse legal aspects including land and property matters.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws including Companies Act, FEMA, and other corporate and industrial regulations.
  • Conduct Board & General Meetings, maintain statutory records, and handle issues of securities.
  • Implement and update systems, processes, and controls for all legal and secretarial functions.
  • Manage risk and establish internal control processes across the organization.
  • Lead, develop, and optimize departmental resources to ensure effective team performance and accountability.


Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Education: LLB/LLM and Associate/Fellow Company Secretary (ACS/FCS).
  • Experience: Minimum 20 years’ experience as Legal Head & Company Secretary in FMCG/FMCD/FMEG or large-scale electrical manufacturing organizations.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to create accountability, lead by example, and manage cross-functional teams; reports directly to the Director.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of Contract Act, Sale of Goods Act, Arbitration Act, Industrial Dispute Act, Factories Act, Contract Labour Act, Companies Act, and FEMA.
  • Soft Skills: Strategic decision-making, problem-solving, communication, customer orientation, and people management.
