Position: Executive / Senior Formulator – Color Cosmetics

Department: Research & Development (R&D)

Location: Mumbai (Ghatkopar)

Reports To: R&D Manager

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Color Cosmetic Formulator to join

our R&D team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and optimizing

formulations across various cosmetic categories (face, lips, eyes, skin). The role

requires strong technical expertise in raw materials, formulation science, stability

studies, and hands-on experience in tech transfer and scale-up processes.

Key Responsibilities

 Formulation Development:

• Design and develop innovative and stable formulations for color
  
  

cosmetic products (lipsticks, foundations, eyeliners, compacts, etc.).

• Benchmark and reformulate products based on market trends,
  
  

consumer insights, and regulatory guidelines.

 Raw Material Expertise

• Evaluate, source, and qualify raw materials for functionality, safety, and
  
  

compatibility.

• Collaborate with suppliers for new material innovations and technical
  
  

support.

 Stability & Performance Testing

• Conduct stability studies, compatibility tests, and product performance
  
  

evaluations.

• Document findings and propose formulation adjustments when
  
  

required.

 Scale-Up & Tech Transfer

• Prepare detailed formulation dossiers and manufacturing instructions.
• Partner with production teams for successful pilot and commercial
  
  

batch scale-up.

• Troubleshoot formulation and processing challenges during tech
  
  

transfer.

 Regulatory & Compliance

• Ensure formulations comply with regulatory, quality, and safety
  
  

standards.

• Maintain updated knowledge of global cosmetic regulations.
  
  

 Innovation & Trend Alignment

• Track and analyse global beauty trends, textures, pigments, and
  
  

technologies.

• Translate consumer needs into innovative product concepts and
  
  

formulations.

 Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with packaging, quality, procurement, and marketing
  
  

teams to deliver successful product launches.

• Work Closely with teams for Consumer & Market Studies.
  
  

Qualifications

Qualifications & Experience:

• B.Sc. / M.Sc. in Cosmetic Science, Chemistry, or related field.
• 3–5 years’ experience in color cosmetic R&D.
• Exposure to tech transfer, scale-up & sensory evaluation.
• Strong knowledge of formulations, raw materials, pigments, emulsions,dispersions, and delivery systems.
• Proven experience in stability studies, product testing, and tech transfer.
• Familiarity with cosmetic regulations (FDA, BIS, EU, etc.).
• Proficiency in documentation, report writing, and formulation record-keeping.
• Creative mindset with problem-solving skills and ability to handle multipleprojects.
