Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Design Coordinator to manage design coordination across a high-rise construction project, acting as the key liaison between project consultants, the site execution team, and works related to RCC (Reinforced Cement Concrete) structure and finishing. The successful candidate will ensure design intent is accurately translated into buildable solutions while resolving conflicts between disciplines in a timely manner.
Key Responsibilities
The Design Coordinator will review and coordinate architectural, structural, and MEP drawings to identify clashes or inconsistencies before they impact site execution. They will act as the primary point of contact between external consultants (architects, structural engineers, MEP consultants) and the internal project team, ensuring design queries raised on site are tracked, communicated, and resolved promptly.
A core part of the role involves coordinating closely with the RCC team to verify that structural drawings align with architectural and services requirements, including embedments, openings, shaft locations, and slab levels, and flagging discrepancies before pour stages. The role also requires coordination with the finishing team on items such as flooring, cladding, false ceiling, joinery, and façade details, ensuring design details are construction-ready and consistent with approved specifications.
The coordinator will maintain and update drawing registers, tracking revisions and ensuring the latest approved drawings are issued to site teams, while also reviewing shop drawings and good-for-construction (GFC) drawings submitted by contractors against design intent. Organizing and leading design coordination meetings with consultants, contractors, and the site team, documenting minutes, and following up on action items will be a routine responsibility.
The role also involves identifying potential design-related risks or delays early, proposing practical solutions in coordination with the project manager and design team, supporting value engineering discussions, and maintaining a master design issue tracker/RFI (Request for Information) log to monitor the status and closure of open items.
Required Qualifications And Experience
Candidates should hold a Bachelor's degree in Architecture with a minimum of five to eight years of relevant experience in design coordination, specifically on high-rise or large-scale construction projects. Demonstrated experience coordinating between consultants, RCC contractors, and finishing teams on multi-story structures is essential. Strong working knowledge of construction drawings, including architectural, structural, and MEP documentation, is required, along with proficiency in AutoCAD.
