The Deputy Head of Taxation will assist the Head of Taxation in leading global tax operations by optimising corporate structures, devising tax-efficient mechanisms for fund repatriation, managing transfer pricing, and overseeing international tax compliance and risk management. Additionally, the role entails implementing processes and systems to ensure accurate and timely compliance with direct and indirect tax laws, and coordinating with tax authorities and local consultants on assessment proceedings.
Tax Planning and Compliance
Manage overall tax costs at the group level, including structuring businesses to mitigate tax risks.
Optimize tax costs through strategic structuring of shareholding, business arrangements, inter-company and third-party contracts, and payment models.
Develop tax-efficient mechanisms for profit repatriation, including dividend distributions.
Provide tax and regulatory advice on mergers and acquisitions.
Monitor internal and external compliance for direct and indirect taxes, focusing on cost management and optimization.
Ensure processes and controls are in place for accurate and timely tax compliance.
Oversee global tax compliance, including DAC6 reporting, Country-by-Country reporting, Master file filing, and adherence to Economic Substance Rules.
Track and analyze global tax updates, assessing their impact on the Group and ensuring compliance.
Implement tax automation projects to enhance process efficiency and governance.
Drive performance improvement initiatives for the tax department at both company and group levels.
Tax Audits and Assessments
Advise on tax litigation matters and strategies to minimize litigation risks.
Coordinate the flow of tax information to external auditors and tax authorities.
Provide guidance on disputes or questions from tax authorities, implementing strategies to address these issues.
Represent the company before tax authorities as needed.
Tax Provisioning
Review consolidated global tax provisions and coordinate with the accounting department.
Manage tax-related MIS reporting, including for the Group including ETR analysis, monthly/quarterly/budget tax provision and payouts, year-end tax note forming part of the Consol financials, IFRIC 23 assessment, CL disclosures, Tax provisions for open tax risks/open tax audits, quarterly tax audit/tax risk reporting, etc.
External Relationships and Business Support
Maintain relationships with external consultants and teams.
Identify tax law changes and opportunities to support the business.
Ensure adequate controls over tax processes and timely submission of returns
Team Management & Succession Planning
Manage and develop staff, including performance management, training, and career development.
Create and maintain a robust talent pipeline to ensure succession planning (1:2 ratio).
Sustainability
Oversee corporate governance within the assigned region, ensuring alignment with organizational principles, policies, and regulations.
Promote judicious use of natural resources and adhere to the organizations environment, health, and safety policies, objectives, and guidelines.
Drive the organizations sustainability initiatives, working towards achieving established targets.
Anti Bribery Management Systems (ABMS)
Follow the ABMS roles and responsibilities details as prescribed on the ABMS manual.
Understanding of ethical standards and the importance of integrity in business practices.
Ability to identify and evaluate risks related to bribery in various business contexts. For more detailed explanation, follow the ABMS manual.
Education
Graduate or Global Equivalent Degree or Certified Charter Accountant or Global Equivalent Certification in Finance.
Experience
Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in handling finance systems and processes and in handling multi-cultural/global teams with experience dealing with Auditors/Bankers/Legal Advisors/Consultants
