Job Designation: Dean – Sarla Anil Surendra Modi School of Economics

Job Summary: To provide strategic academic and administrative leadership to the Sarla Anil Surendra Modi School of Economics (SAMSOE), ensuring academic excellence, high-quality teaching and research, curriculum development, faculty growth, student success, and institutional development. The Dean will lead the School’s academic and administrative activities, strengthen industry and academic partnerships, promote innovation, and align the School’s objectives with the vision and policies of NMIMS.

Key Responsibilities	Establish and implement academic and administrative policies approved by NMIMS. Lead academic planning, curriculum development, and quality enhancement. Oversee faculty recruitment, development, and academic performance. Promote research, publications, and interdisciplinary academic initiatives. Oversee admissions, student development, academic progress, and placements. Plan and coordinate academic events, seminars, conferences, and School activities. Develop industry partnerships and academic collaborations nationally and internationally. Ensure accreditation, regulatory compliance, and academic quality assurance. Oversee budgeting, resource allocation, and effective utilisation of School resources. Promote innovative teaching methods and initiatives aligned with NMIMS’s vision and the School’s strategic objectives.
Educational Qualification	Ph.D. in Economics or an allied/relevant discipline from a recognised University/Institution. Qualifications shall be as per applicable UGC Regulations and the University’s approved Recruitment Rules. The candidate should be at Professor level in a premier management school or be a Principal of a premier undergraduate college.
Professional Experience	Minimum 15 years of academic and administrative experience in higher education, preferably in Economics or a related discipline. A demonstrated record of high-quality research, publications, academic leadership, and institutional development. Experience in academic administration, programme development, accreditation, quality assurance, and industry or institutional collaboration.
Skills and Competencies	Strong academic leadership, strategic planning, and decision-making skills. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team-management abilities. Expertise in curriculum development, academic innovation, and research. Sound administrative, financial, and resource-management capabilities. Knowledge of accreditation, regulatory compliance, and academic quality assurance. Student-centric approach with strong industry and academic relationship-building skills.

In 1981, Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal (SVKM) established Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) to meet the growing demand for management education. In 2003, NMIMS was declared a deemed to be university under Section 3 of the UGC Act 1956. The Vision of the University is to be a globally admired University by 2030.
