Summary of Role - Head of Portfolio Optimization Group, India Citi Commercial Bank

The Head of Portfolio Optimization Group (POG) for India Citi Commercial Bank (CCB) manages a team of POG Relationship Managers and is responsible for the end-to-end oversight of the assigned de-marketing portfolio within the country.  This includes supervising workload allocation, reviewing case quality, clearing blockers, and ensuring that each client progresses through assessment, de-risking, and exit processes in accordance with Citi's policies, controls, regulatory requirements, and risk appetite.  The role provides centralized coordination for escalations, partners with Operations, Compliance, Risk, and Product teams to expedite execution, and keeps the Country CCB Head and Clusters POG Head informed on progress, risks, and key issues. The Team Lead is accountable for accurate reporting, timely dashboard updates, and portfolio-level visibility for regional and global stakeholders.  This position requires strong leadership, stakeholder management, execution discipline, and the ability to drive consistent, high-quality outcomes across the team.

Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Oversight

• Lead, manage, and support a team of POG Relationship Managers responsible for de-marketing and portfolio management activities.
• Perform and oversee day-to-day case execution, ensuring all POG RMs follow consistent standards, documentation requirements, and communication protocols.
• Review team output for quality, accuracy, and completeness, providing coaching where required to strengthen delivery and judgment.
• Monitor team workload and progress, reallocating resources as necessary to meet deadlines and maintain balanced capacity.
• Serve as the primary country-level escalation point for complex or sensitive POG client situations.

Portfolio Management & Execution

• Maintain end-to-end oversight of the assigned portfolio within the country, ensuring timely assessments, risk evaluations, and de-marketing actions.
• Partner with Operations, Compliance, and cross-functional teams to expedite client transitions, exits, and remediation activities.
• Track portfolio milestones, workflows, and bottlenecks to ensure smooth execution and proactive problem solving.
• Ensure all regulatory, KYC, AML, and policy-driven obligations are met across the team's portfolio.

Escalation & Stakeholder Engagement

• Manage escalations in coordination with Compliance, Legal, Product, Risk, and Operations partners.
• Keep the Country CCB Head and Clusters POG Head informed of material issues, portfolio risks, delays, and decisions requiring senior management intervention.
• Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to align priorities, clarify expectations, and remove execution barriers.

Reporting, Transparency & Controls

• Oversee the accuracy and timeliness of all dashboards, trackers, and reporting submitted by POG Relationship Managers.
• Consolidate portfolio-level reporting for regional and global stakeholders, ensuring full visibility of progress, timelines, risks, and outstanding actions.
• Ensure strict adherence to Citi policies, control requirements, regulatory obligations, and documentation standards.
• Appropriately assess risk when making decisions, demonstrating sound judgment, effective escalation, and transparency.
