We currently have an opportunity for an Associate Archaeologist / Heritage Consultant to join the AtkinsRéalis Global Technology Centre in India. The role involves significant work on UK, ME and International projects being delivered by the AtkinsRéalis UK SLRM – Heritage practice across a range of market sectors like Highways, Rail, Tunnels, including the development of Cities, Mass Transit and Energy infrastructure.
Your role
2-5 years experience in archaeological assessment and heritage analysis.
Familiarity with producing Historic Environment Desk Based Assessments (DBA) and Heritage Reports.
Knowledge and technical understanding of assessing impact on buried archaeology and the setting of the built heritage assets.
Proficient ability to interpret, review and analyse historic maps, aerial photographs, etc.
Experience of producing well written factual and interpretative heritage / archaeology reports.
Good communication and presentation skills.
Understanding of environmental regulations with respect to archaeological and heritage conservation, ideally in the UK and ME.
Hands-on experience and good understanding of GIS / QGIS for spatial database analysis.
Ability to take initiative and work independently or within heritage team.
Willingness to learn and adapt to the project/team/wider team.
Located near an AtkinsRéalis India office ideally Bengaluru or Mumbai, or willingness for regular travel to visit the team.
About You
Experience in reviewing archaeological fieldwork investigations and mitigation reports.
Experience of working with / for global regions will be preferable either in an excellence centre or in the region.
Field work experience would be an advantage but not essential.
Primary Responsibilities.
Work primarily with heritage specialists and archaeologists in the UK to undertake project specific assessments.
Training provided as part of the role to undertake classification and gain better understanding of the tasks and tools involved.
Originate heritage classification tasks, including assessment and reporting deliverables prior to issuing for check and review.
Data management of large data sets of archaeological site data and historic environment records using software like QGIS.
Scheduling and managing work to acceptable quality, on time and to budget.
Developing own competence with support from the business on own training and development needs.
