Job Description

WSP is seeking an Associate Consultant in Acoustics to provide senior technical leadership, project direction, and team management within our expanding India-based acoustics group, working in close collaboration with the WSP UK Acoustics team. The successful candidate will be based in Noida/Mumbai/Bengaluru and will play a pivotal role in driving high quality delivery, strengthening technical excellence, and supporting the continued growth of our acoustics capability across Environmental Acoustics, Building Acoustics, and Vibration.

This role will involve leading complex, multi disciplinary acoustic projects, overseeing technical outputs, managing client relationships, and providing strategic guidance to the India acoustics team. The Associate Consultant will also contribute to business development, resource planning, and the mentoring and development of team members at all levels.

With a combined team of approximately 45 acousticians in the UK and a growing team in India, you will join a respected, collaborative, and high performing group delivering projects across residential, infrastructure, construction, healthcare, and other sectors.

Responsibilities

You will provide senior leadership and technical direction to the India acoustics team and support UK project directors. Responsibilities include:

Project & Technical Leadership

• Leading large, complex acoustic projects across multiple sectors, ensuring high quality technical delivery aligned with UK standards and client expectations.
• Overseeing and reviewing technical outputs including noise modelling, assessments, and technical reports for planning applications, EIAs, regulatory permitting, and building acoustics.
• Providing expert technical guidance on British Standards, modelling methodologies, and best practice approaches.
• Ensuring project delivery to agreed timescales, budgets, and quality benchmarks.

• Managing and developing the India acoustics team, including performance management, mentoring, and skills development.
• Supporting resource planning and workload allocation across multiple concurrent projects.
• Fostering a collaborative, supportive, and high performance team culture.
  
  
  

Client & Stakeholder Engagement

• Acting as a senior point of contact for UK based clients and project managers.
• Building and maintaining strong client relationships to support repeat business and long term partnerships.
• Representing the acoustics discipline in internal and external meetings, workshops, and presentations.
  
  
  

Business Development & Strategy

• Leading and contributing to major proposals, fee estimates, and bid submissions.
• Driving continuous improvement initiatives in processes, tools, and delivery approaches.
  
  
  

Qualifications

Key Competencies / Skills

Essential Skills

• Master’s degree or equivalent qualification in Acoustics, recognised/accredited in the UK.
• Eligibility for full membership of the UK Institute of Acoustics.
• Twelve or more years of experience in environmental or building acoustics, with demonstrable progression to a senior/leadership role.
• Extensive experience in noise modelling and acoustic assessments using British Standards and UK guidance documents.
• Proven track record of leading large, multi disciplinary projects and delivering high quality outputs.
• Strong experience in project management including budgeting, scheduling, and risk management.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and grow teams, including mentoring and developing junior and mid level staff.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage confidently with clients and stakeholders.
• Strong organisational and leadership capabilities with a proactive, solution oriented mindset.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
  
  
  

Desirable Skills

• Experience with tools such as ArcGIS/QGIS, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Cadna, Odeon, Revit, Rhino, or SketchUp.
• Experience working with UK based teams or international clients.
• Understanding of commercial strategy and business development.
