Job Description

Role Overview

Purplle is looking for a sharp, agile, and seasoned Legal Manager to join our fast-paced legal team. You won’t just be reviewing clauses; you will be a strategic partner to our business verticals. From negotiating high-stakes retail leases for our stores to managing complex due diligence for fundraises, you will play a pivotal role in protecting Purplle’s interests while enabling rapid growth.

This is a high-visibility role requiring a blend of technical legal expertise and business acumen. You will navigate the intersections of e-commerce, retail, and corporate law daily.

Key Responsibilities

  • 1. Contracting & Commercial Negotiations
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide array of commercial agreements: vendor contracts, warehouse leases, logistics agreements, and service provider contracts.
  • Retail Focus: Partner with the Stores Team to manage real estate legalities, including leave and license agreements and fit-out contracts.
  • Standardize templates and playbooks to streamline recurring central function contracts.
  • 2. Corporate Transactions & Fundraising
  • Lead the legal heavy lifting for fundraising rounds and M&A activities.
  • Manage end-to-end Due Diligence (DD) processes, ensuring data rooms are audit-ready and resolving queries from investors’ legal counsels.
  • Assist in drafting and closing transaction documents (SHA, SSA, SPA).
  • 3. Litigation & Dispute Resolution
  • Manage the company’s litigation portfolio, including consumer cases, labor disputes, and commercial arbitration.
  • Liaise with external counsels to draft notices, petitions, and evidence.
  • Develop strategies to mitigate legal risks and settle disputes efficiently to avoid business disruption.
  • 4. Compliance & Regulatory Oversight
  • Drive a culture of 100% compliance across all warehouses and retail outlets.
  • Ensure adherence to E-commerce guidelines, Legal Metrology, Labor laws, and Data Privacy norms.
  • Conduct periodic internal audits to identify and fix compliance gaps.
  • 5. Cross-Functional Partnership
  • Act as the primary legal point of contact for Warehouse and Supply Chain teams to resolve operational hurdles.
  • Advise Central Functions (HR, Marketing, Product) on legal risks associated with new campaigns or product features.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Education: LL.B. or LL.M. from a top-tier law school.
  • Experience: 5–8 years of post-qualification experience (PQE). A mix of top-tier law firm training and in-house experience (start-up/D2C/Retail) is highly preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Deep understanding of the Companies Act, Contract Act, IPR laws, and Real Estate regulations.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Negotiation: Ability to hold your own in a room with seasoned partners.
    • Agility: Comfortable with ambiguity and shifting priorities in a high-growth environment.
    • Communication: Can translate complex "legalese" into actionable advice for non-legal stakeholders.
Why Purplle?

  • Impact: You are not a cog in the wheel; your decisions directly affect our retail footprint and scaling capabilities.
  • Dynamic Culture: We move fast, we experiment, and we value "ownership" above all else.
  • Growth: Exposure to high-level corporate strategy and complex fundraising cycles.

Note: At Purplle, we celebrate diversity and are committed to building an inclusive environment for all employees. If you are a legal professional who loves the intersection of beauty, tech, and law, we want to hear from you.
