Your role

  • Work as part of the AtkinsRéalis Environment (ENV) team supporting energy modelling and sustainability projects across diverse sectors including commercial, residential, healthcare, education, and infrastructure.
  • Assist in developing building energy models for new and existing buildings to evaluate energy performance, carbon emissions, thermal comfort, and operational efficiency.
  • Support projects related to Building Physics, Energy Modelling, Net Zero Carbon strategies, Green Building Certifications (LEED, BREEAM, ESTIDAMA, MOSTADAM, AL SAFAT), Renewable Energy integration, and Sustainability Assessments.
  • Support the preparation of technical reports, energy compliance documentation, and sustainability submission packages.
  • Well versed with data analysis / characterisation / modelling / data management,
  • Work to high standards, ensuring the right first-time delivery,
  • Showcase capabilities on data analysis, management, interpretation and data visualisation applications.
  • Ownership of the work of self, and
  • Contribute to technical discussions/meetings positively through knowledge sharing.

About You

  • Completed Bachelor'S or Master's degree in mechanical engineering with a strong interest in Energy Modelling, Building Physics, Sustainability, and Decarbonisation.
  • Basic understanding of building systems, HVAC fundamentals, heat transfer, thermal comfort, and energy efficiency concepts.
  • Willingness to learn industry-standard energy modelling and sustainability tools such as IES VE, One Click LCA, Python coding and Power BI through structured training and project exposure.
  • Ability to analyse, interpret, and present technical data using spreadsheets and visualisation tools.
  • Interest in sustainable building design, net zero carbon strategies, and environmental performance assessment.
  • Essential qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, Building Services Engineering, Energy Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related disciplines from a recognised university.
    • Completed graduation or post-graduation in Building Performance, Sustainable Design, Energy Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Building Services or related disciplines in 2023 / 2024 / 2025.
    • Good report writing skills and fluency in English.
  • Desired qualifications:
    • Awareness on design, analysis, drafting and BIM integration tools and platforms (Autodesk REVIT, Navisworks etc)
    • Interest in Energy Modelling - on building physics and green rating systems.
    • Willingness to pursue sustainability certifications.
    • Awareness of Energy Modelling software such as IES VE, or similar platforms.
    • Exposure to building services systems including HVAC, lighting, renewable energy, and controls through academic work or internships.
    • Understanding of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Whole Life Carbon, or embodied carbon concepts.
    • Value addition through innovations and automation in project delivery.
