Position Overview

Are you passionate about working in a laboratory environment, preparing formulations, performing material characterisation, applying coatings, and conducting comparative benchmarking? allnex is looking for an Application Chemist to join the team in Mumbai, India!

The Application Chemist will play a key role in supporting allnex’s additives portfolio by providing technical expertise, driving formulation development, and delivering customer‑focused solutions across key coating applications. In this role, you will provide technical service to customers in partnership with the Sales &amp Marketing team, ensuring timely and effective support that meets market needs.

Responsibilities

• Develop an in-depth understanding of the current Additives portfolio, including product performance, capabilities, and application in market‑relevant coating systems supplied by allnex.
• Provide accurate and timely technical information to the Applications team and country/regional Technical Service team.
• Address technical enquiries and customer requests by planning and executing targeted laboratory testing, or by engaging internal and external experts where needed.
• Support the Technical Service team in delivering technical solutions to internal stakeholders (across all BUs) and external customers, recommending existing products or contributing to new solution development.
• Collaborate with the R&ampD team to support product development activities.
• Develop strong technical value propositions and lead technical product positioning in the market.
• Contribute substantial technical input to cross-functional market segment teams to drive new product developments that meet market requirements within agreed timelines.
• Generate robust technical options to ensure the successful execution of projects.
• Provide forward-thinking technical planning, organise project activities effectively, and deliver according to agreed stage‑gate requirements.
  
  

Required Skills And Experience

• 2–3+ years of technical experience in coating formulation.
• Hands-on laboratory experience, including formulation work, material characterisation, coating application, and comparative benchmarking.
• Good understanding of the coatings industry and its customer base.
• Excellent communication skills, with proven ability to engage effectively with customers, understand technical issues, develop suitable solutions, and communicate these internally.
• Strong command of spoken and written English.
• Proficient in experimental planning, data analysis, documentation, and clear reporting of technical results.
• Experience with other coating technologies—such as amino crosslinker systems, powder coatings, or radiation‑curable coatings—is an advantage.
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Chemistry or any related discipline knowledge of polymer chemistry is essential.
