Job Summary

We are looking for an API Automation Testing professional to work with our client in India. The role is suitable for candidates with hands-on experience in API automation, RESTful services, Postman, Rest Assured, programming, database validation, and modern QA practices. The position can suit professionals across different experience levels, depending on project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, execute, and maintain automated API test cases for RESTful APIs and web services.
• Create API automation tests using Rest Assured and Postman.
• Validate JSON and XML request and response payloads and verify API behaviour against requirements.
• Use Java, Python, or JavaScript for test automation and supporting scripts.
• Develop and maintain reusable automation components and test frameworks.
• Work with TestNG or JUnit and build tools such as Maven or Gradle.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or GitLab CI.
• Perform database testing and backend validation using SQL.
• Investigate test failures, troubleshoot defects, and work with development teams to identify root causes.
• Follow Agile practices and contribute across the SDLC and STLC.
• Document test results, defects, automation coverage, and relevant QA information.
• Collaborate with developers, QA engineers, product teams, and other stakeholders to improve software quality.
  
  

Required Technical Skills

• 2–11 years of experience in software testing, with strong exposure to API Automation Testing.
• Hands-on experience with API automation using Rest Assured and Postman.
• Strong hands-on programming experience in Java, Python, or JavaScript.
• Experience testing RESTful APIs and web services.
• Good understanding of JSON and XML payload validation.
• Working knowledge of TestNG, JUnit, Maven, and Gradle.
• Experience with Git and source-control workflows.
• Hands-on exposure to Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or GitLab CI.
• Good understanding of Agile methodologies and SDLC/STLC processes.
• Good experience with SQL, database testing, and backend data validation.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  
  

Preferred Technical Skills

• Experience with Swagger or OpenAPI documentation and API validation.
• Experience building reusable API automation frameworks.
• Exposure to continuous testing within CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience working with complex enterprise APIs and backend systems.
• Exposure to additional API testing tools and automation approaches.

• Analytical and logical problem-solving ability.
• Strong attention to detail when validating API behaviour and test results.
• Good troubleshooting and debugging skills.
• Ability to understand requirements and create effective test scenarios.
• Good written and verbal communication.

AI Experience

AI experience is not specifically required. Familiarity with AI-assisted testing or developer productivity tools may be useful but is not mandatory.
