Job Description

What a Government Affairs Analyst does at Visa:

The Analyst will report to the Head of Government Affairs, India and South Asia. This full-time role will be based in Mumbai. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with strong research, analytical and writing skills, capable of managing multiple assignments and producing high-quality deliverables in a fast-paced environment. They should have some experience in public policy, government affairs, consulting, research or financial services.

They will support all aspects of Visa's Government Affairs work across India and South Asia, including policy monitoring, regulatory analysis, stakeholder mapping, internal reporting and project coordination. This role offers an opportunity to develop expertise in public policy, government affairs and the payments ecosystem while working closely with internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Support implementation of Government Affairs priorities aligned to Visa's business objectives.
• Monitor and analyze policy, regulatory and political developments across India and South Asia.
• Conduct research and prepare policy briefs, stakeholder profiles and market intelligence reports.
• Maintain stakeholder databases, engagement trackers and reporting tools.
• Draft meeting briefs, readouts, correspondence and periodic updates.
• Support engagement with government agencies, regulators, industry associations and external partners.
• Coordinate meetings, events and stakeholder engagement activities.
• Develop presentations, reports and internal communications materials.
• Conduct analysis on developments relating to payments, fintech, cybersecurity, privacy, trade and financial inclusion.
• Support cross-functional initiatives and Government Affairs projects.

Visa requires at least 3 days in office, expectations of these days will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

• 2 years of relevant experience.
• Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school.
• Current member in good standing of a State Bar with the ability to become barred or a registered in-house counsel in the state where this role is located.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• 2–4 years of experience in government affairs, public policy, consulting, research, industry associations or financial services.
• Strong understanding of public policy and regulatory developments in India.
• Excellent research, analytical and writing skills.
• Strong PowerPoint, Excel and Word skills.
• Ability to synthesize complex information into concise insights.
• Strong project management and organizational skills.
• High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Positive, collaborative and team-oriented mindset.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
