Position Overview
The Senior HVAC Project Manager for Data Center Projects - Responsible for the full lifecycle execution of mission critical cooling infrastructure in hyperscale, colocation, enterprise, and edge Data Centers. The Senior PM leads high complexity projects involving precision cooling, chilled water systems, CRAH/CRAC, Thermal aisle containment, CDU, BMS integration, and stringent commissioning protocols. This position demands deep technical expertise, strong stakeholder management, and hands on experience delivering Tier III / Tier IV compliant facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Planning & Coordination
- Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and resource allocations.
- Interpret HVAC drawings, technical specifications, and project documents.
- Coordinate with design teams to ensure accurate BOQs, material submittals, and shop drawings.
- Plan site execution activities, manpower deployment, and subcontractor scope.
- Lead HVAC design review, procurement, installation, testing, and commissioning for Data Center cooling systems.
- Develop project strategy, milestone planning, and risk mitigation frameworks.
- Drive adherence to project milestones in fast track, high-availability environments.
- Data Center HVAC Systems Expertise
- Oversee implementation of specialized cooling infrastructure:
- Chilled water plants, DX systems, and modular cooling
- CRAH/CRAC units
- Precision cooling systems (in-row, in‑rack, rear-door heat exchangers)
- Hot/Cold aisle containment
- Liquid cooling (CDUs, SFN piping)
- Validate HVAC load calculations for server density, rack layouts, and heat dissipation scenarios.
- Review shop drawings, single-line diagrams, P&IDs, and method statements.
- Conduct technical reviews of selection for chillers, pumps, heat exchangers, valves, and control systems.
- Stakeholder & Client Management
- Act as the primary point of communication between clients, consultants, and internal project team
- Lead client meetings, technical discussions, design reviews, and manage all change requests.
- Oversee and coordinate subcontractors and vendors to ensure timely material delivery and installation.
- Collaborate closely with hyperscale clients, PMCs, consultants, OEMs, and general contractors throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage escalations, variation orders, technical clarifications, and contractual discussions effectively.
- Project Execution, Safety & Quality Control
- Oversee installation quality of piping, ducting, chilled water distribution, and equipment alignment.
- Ensure adherence to mission-critical safety procedures, risk assessments, and method statements.
- Conduct site inspections, performance verification, and QA/QC audits.
- Implement high-density room cooling solutions without compromising uptime.
- Testing, Commissioning & Handover
- Lead Stage-wise Data Center commissioning protocols:
- Factory Testing (FAT)
- Pre-Functional Testing (PFT)
- Site Acceptance Testing (SAT)
- Integrated System Testing (IST)
- Coordinate BMS integration and performance validation under full load, partial load, and failover scenarios.
- Deliver complete commissioning documents, as‑built drawings, O&M manuals, and SOPs.
- Ensure zero-defect handover meeting project requirements.
- Commercial & Contractual Management
- Track project budgets, cash flow, and material procurement schedules.
- Manage equipment lead times for chillers, CRAH, pumps, valves, CDU, and controls.
- Prepare RA bills, variation proposals, cost deviation reports, and claim documents.
- Coordinate with procurement for timely vendor payments.
- Team Management
- Supervise Site Managers, installation teams, and commissioning engineers.
- Drive seamless coordination with design, PMO, QA/QC, procurement and safety Team.
