Role Synopsis

bp is looking for an experienced operations engineer to support bp India. The position provides operations and engineering support to offshore facilities as part of a technical service provision. The role contributes directly to bp’s business by enhancing production and increasing hydrocarbon recovery from one of the worlds largest oil fields.

This role will be based in Mumbai and the successful candidate is expected to work in a diverse multi skilled team.

Key Accountabilities

• Identification and solving of operational problems in offshore process facilities. Strong technical understanding of operating complexes and associated well head platforms.
• Process surveillance, monitoring and optimizing oil and gas offshore operations.
• Review and analyse production deferrals and identify and implement improvement actions to prevent recurrence.
• Use of root cause analysis techniques for elimination of recurring failures.
• Support integrated hub capacity reviews, identify and implement debottlenecking and production opportunities.
• Recommend upgrades and improvements to main complex and well head platforms to enhance production.
• Provide facilities engineering input for key upgrade projects.
• Optimise sizing of facilities equipment such as control valves, orifice plates, separators, compressors, gas dehydration etc.
• Accelerate digitalization and develop integrated system models, run models to identify optimisation opportunities.
• Implement key upgrades to main process complex and well head platforms including implementation of surface technology.
• Drive knowledge exchange and continuous improvement between teams.
• Identify growth projects and technologies necessary to grow production in the medium and long term.
  
  

Essential Education

• Degree or equivalent experience in engineering field (chemical, process, mechanical, rotating equipment, electrical or Instrumentation and control)
  
  

Essential Experience And Job Requirements

• Minimum of 6 years’ experience in the offshore oil and gas industry or a related sector.
• Ability to work beyond engineering subject area pulling on others as required as role is expected to provide technical recommendations across all surface engineering subject areas.
• Ability to manage multiple activities and to quickly respond to changing business priorities and make value and risk-based prioritization decisions. To integrate short-term tactical and long-term strategic activity to deliver business value.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop innovative solutions to complex technical and operational issues.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and professional behaviours, fostering strong relationships and teamwork across multiple collaborators. Able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, PowerBi, Teams, and SharePoint.
• Fluent in written and spoken English, with the ability to communicate expertly at all organizational levels.
  
  

Desirable criteria

• Experience supporting an offshore processing complex, with experience in optimising, debottlenecking and enhancing surface facilities.
• Experience in digitalisation and integrated system modeling.
• Experience delivering projects on offshore oil and gas processing facilities.
• Experience of well work and well interventions, including stimulation and fracking.
• Experience working in international JV’s and complex multicultural environments is preferred. Appreciates the challenges of and value generated by a diverse working environment.
• Advanced influencing and communication abilities, supporting successful engagement and alignment at all organizational levels.

• The role will be based in Mumbai
• Offshore facilities visits are required. Individuals must be medically fit and certified for offshore site visits.
