Job Summary

West Region Operations & Technical Delivery Lead

AECOM is seeking a highly experienced Operations & Technical Delivery Leader with 15–20 years of experience to lead operations, technical delivery, and project governance across the West Region and all AECOM sectors, including Buildings & Places, Transportation, and Energy & Water. The role will lead Project Managers and multidisciplinary teams, ensuring consistent governance, technical excellence, operational efficiency, and successful delivery across the regional project portfolio. The individual will work closely with Sector Leaders and Operations Managers to support growth, resource optimization, risk management, client satisfaction, and business performance.

 Responsibilities:

• Regional Operations & Governance: Lead overall operational governance across West Region projects and sectors, ensuring consistent processes, standards, risk management, and delivery excellence.

• Project & Technical Leadership: Provide oversight to Project Managers and technical teams across the full project lifecycle—from pursuit and contract award through design, delivery and close-out.

• Financial & Operational Performance: Drive key KPIs including revenue, billing, collections, profitability, utilization, EAC/ETC, project margins, and cash flow.

• Growth & Client Development: Partner with Sector Leaders to support pipeline development, strategic pursuits, client relationships, and regional growth objectives.

• Resource & People Leadership: Optimize regional resources, support workforce planning, develop talent, and strengthen multidisciplinary collaboration across sectors and offices.

• Risk, Quality & Compliance: Ensure effective project governance, technical assurance, contractual compliance, quality, safety, and proactive management of project risks and escalations.

• Delivery Excellence: Drive standardization, technical excellence, innovation, digital delivery, and continuous improvement across the regional portfolio.

• Leadership & Reporting: Provide senior leadership with clear visibility of operational, financial, project, people, and client performance, including corrective actions where required.

Experience:

• 15–20 years of relevant experience in engineering, design, project delivery, or technical leadership within the AEC industry.
• Significant experience in the design and delivery of data centers, mission-critical facilities, hyperscale facilities, colocation facilities, or other complex critical infrastructure projects.
• Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary technical teams on large and complex projects.
• Strong understanding of the complete project lifecycle, from feasibility and concept through detailed design, construction, commissioning, and handover.
• Demonstrated knowledge of critical infrastructure, including electrical, mechanical, controls, fire protection, civil, structural, and digital/BIM systems.
• Experience with projects delivered through EPC, design-build, traditional design-bid-build, or other integrated delivery models.
• Experience working with global and geographically distributed design and delivery teams.
• Proven ability to manage technical risks, interfaces, scope, quality, schedule, and client expectations.
• Experience supporting business development, proposals, technical presentations, and client pursuits.
• PMP or other relevant professional certification is preferred.

Qualification:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline.
