The Production Engineer – Polish will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and optimizing polishing operations to ensure production targets are achieved while maintaining the highest quality standards. The role focuses on improving production efficiency, minimizing defects and material wastage, ensuring compliance with safety and quality requirements, and driving continuous process improvements through effective coordination with cross-functional teams
Responsibilities:
Plan, supervise, and monitor daily production activities of the Polish section to ensure production targets are achieved on time.
Manage polishing operations including surface preparation, staining, colour matching, sanding, coating, finishing, and final inspection to meet quality standards.
Monitor paint and polishing processes to ensure consistent finish quality while minimizing defects, rework, and material wastage.
Identify production and quality issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Optimize manpower, machine utilization, and production processes to improve productivity and operational efficiency.
Ensure compliance with approved SOPs, quality standards, and customer specifications throughout the polishing process.
Coordinate with Production Planning, Quality, Maintenance, Warehouse, and other cross-functional teams to ensure smooth production flow.
Monitor production KPIs, prepare production reports, and recommend continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality and efficiency.
Ensure compliance with HSE requirements, safe chemical handling practices, PPE usage, and 6S workplace standards.
Train, guide, and develop supervisors and operators on polishing processes, quality requirements, and safe working practices.
Qualification: Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
Experience: 4–5 years of relevant experience in the Polish/Paint Department of a reputable furniture manufacturing company.
Hands-on experience in wood finishing processes, including staining, sanding, color matching, PU/NC/UV coating systems, spray painting, buffing, and final finishing.
Strong understanding of paint chemistry, wood coating systems, surface preparation, and finishing quality standards.
Experience in process optimization, quality improvement, defect analysis, and manufacturing cost reduction.
Knowledge of production planning, Lean Manufacturing, and continuous improvement tools will be an advantage.
Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional manufacturing environment.
