State And Local Tax Manager

Position Profile

Weaver seeks a State and Local Tax (SALT) Manager to join our team. Tax Managers in our State and Local Tax practice work on multiple complex tax engagements and contribute to delivering innovative tax planning ideas for our diverse clients. SALT Managers have in-depth, first-hand experience in a wide range of industries. They draw on experience in accounting and taxation to provide consulting services to corporate clients. SALT Managers identify complex tax issues and provide tax analysis for a variety of entities and their affiliates. Their primary responsibilities include working on complex tax audits, managed audits, and recovery of tax overpayments (reverse audits). Additional responsibilities include preparing complex tax research projects for clients across diverse industries by researching and analyzing a wide range of tax issues and their associated implications. They will also lead projects and a team of SALT professionals.

To be successful in this role, the following qualifications are required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
• CPA, CA, CMI, EA or JD
• 10 + years of state and local tax experience in a public accounting firm, tax services firm or similar industry
• Experience with a focus on state and local tax compliance and consulting
• Understands and implements process transitions
• Comprehend and communicate with the clients
  
  

Additionally, The Following Qualifications Are Preferred

• Master’s degree in Accounting or related field
• Proven ability to manage, mentor, and develop staff
• Strong relationship management and practice development skills
• Exposure to manage & lead client calls
• Ability to attract and service new clients and expand services to existing clients
