State And Local Tax Associate

Position Profile

Weavers State and Local Tax (SALT) team is seeking an Associate to join our growing team. This team member will gain experience in tax compliance and consulting services specific to state and local taxes. A SALT Associate’s primary responsibilities include working on complex state and local tax audits, managed audits, and recovery of tax overpayments (reverse audits), as well as preparing complex tax research projects for clients in diverse industries, and researching and analyzing a wide range of tax issues and tax implications.

The ideal candidate is a team player who exhibits initiative, communicates effectively, and manages multiple concurrent assignments of varying sizes and complexity. A Weaver Associate enjoys flexibility, meaningful client work, and a supportive and innovative work environment.

To be successful in this role, the following qualifications are required:

• The associate should have experience in any one of the following:
• Sales & Use tax
• Property Tax
• State Income Taxes/Income Franchise.
• 1-4 years of state and local tax experience in a public accounting firm, tax services firm, or similar industry experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Team orientation and strong interpersonal skills
• Strong project management skills
  

Additionally, The Following Qualifications Are Preferred

• Master’s degree in Accounting or related field
• CPA or CA Candidate or CPA, CA, EA, or CMI in progress or complete
• Internship or light experience in public accounting
