Job Description

The Restaurant Cashier is a vital frontline position within our dining establishment, responsible for ensuring excellent customer service and smooth financial transactions. This role involves greeting customers, processing payments, handling cash, and providing information on menu offerings. As the first and last point of contact, the Restaurant Cashier must ensure customer satisfaction and foster a welcoming environment. A successful candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills, attention to detail, and efficiency in managing transactions. They should also be familiar with operating point-of-sale systems, and maintain a clean and organized work area. Responsibilities

  • Welcome and greet customers promptly and courteously upon their arrival.
  • Accurately process customer orders and accept different types of payment methods.
  • Maintain a clean and organized front counter and cashier station.
  • Ensure that the cash drawer is balanced at the end of each shift.
  • Assist customers with questions, concerns, and menu recommendations when needed.
  • Operate the point-of-sale system efficiently and troubleshoot minor issues.
  • Issue receipts, refunds, credits, or change due to customers appropriately.
  • Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure order accuracy and timely delivery.
  • Monitor and restock necessary supplies to ensure smooth service operation.
  • Handle customer complaints and resolve issues with patience and professionalism.
  • Communicate with team members to enhance customer satisfaction and service.
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and standards for safety and compliance.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education is a plus.
  • Previous experience in a customer service role preferred but not essential.
  • Basic math skills to handle cash transactions accurately and swiftly.
  • Proficiency in operating point-of-sale systems and related technology.
  • Strong verbal communication skills and a friendly, approachable demeanor.
  • Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment with ease.
  • Dependable, punctual, and willing to work flexible hours including weekends.
