Roles & Responsibilities
Strong understanding of machining processes and fixture design, including ability to suggest improvements for manufacturability
Hands-on experience to independently operate and set up GROB / DMG / MAZAK machines (TMC / VMC / HMC / 5-Axis)
Proficient in operating Siemens / Mazatrol / Fanuc controllers, including making minor on-machine edits within defined limits
Ability to work on NPI (New Product Introduction) parts, including:
Understanding new part/process requirements
Supporting first article runs
Providing feedback to Manufacturing / ME / Programming teams
Strong ability to interpret complex part drawings and GD&T requirements, including critical characteristics and key inspection points
Ability to perform all work as per SOPs, work instructions, and industry standard practices, and provide feedback to improve them
In-depth knowledge of cutting tools, parameter selection, and troubleshooting for different materials and operations
Ability to set tools and fixtures on the machine independently as per NC program, setup sheet, and process plan
Ability to take full setups of parts on own, including zero setting, work coordinate setting, trial cuts, and first-piece approval support
Ability to conduct regular tool trials and process trials to optimize cycle time, tool life, surface finish, and overall process stability
Good machinist skills, including measurement techniques, use of hand tools and gauges, understanding of tolerances, and shop math
Ability to read and interpret CMM reports / inspection reports and use them for problem solving (e.g., identifying offset errors, tool wear, deflection, fixture issues)
Demonstrated problem solving and critical thinking skills to address machining, dimensional, and quality issues using data-driven approach
Knowledge of QC tools (e.g., 5 Why, Fishbone, Pareto) and ability to drive Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and corrective actions for machining and quality issues
Knowledge and proper use of process-specific PPE and adherence to all safety and EHS requirements, with the ability to role-model safe behaviors and stop unsafe work
Ideal Candidate
A senior CNC machinist (6–8 years) with deep hands-on expertise on GROB/DMG/MAZAK (TMC/VMC/HMC/5-axis) and Siemens/Mazatrol/Fanuc controls, able to independently take full setups, support NPI proveouts, interpret complex drawings and GD&T, and optimize tools, fixtures, and parameters for safety, quality, and productivity.
Required Qualification/Requirements
Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with minimum 6–8 years of experience in CNC machining
