Introduction to the Aga Khan University:

The Department of Medicine at The Aga Khan University Hospital, comprises of independent sections of Cardiology, Dermatology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Internal Medicine, Infectious Diseases, Nephrology, Neurology, and Pulmonary & Critical Care. The department has over 70+ full-time Faculty with a strong commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate education and research. Residency Programmes are offered in Internal Medicine, Neurology, Adult Cardiology, Pulmonary Medicine, Nephrology and Dermatology, as well as Fellowship Programmes in Clinical Neurophysiology & Electrodiagnostic Medicine, Diabetes, Endocrinology & Metabolism, Interventional Cardiology, Gastroenterology, ERCP and Infectious Diseases.

The Aga Khan University invites application for the position of Research Associate in the Section of Dermatology, Department of Medicine.

 

Job Role / Responsibilities:

 

You will be required to:

 

  • Conduct literature searches and reviews and assist in developing study protocols, grant applications, and ERC submissions.

  • Support the development and implementation of qualitative and quantitative research tools and data collection instruments.

  • Collect, manage, validate, clean, and analyze research data while ensuring data quality and integrity.

  • Coordinate with clinicians, statisticians, research staff, and other stakeholders to support effective research project execution.

  • Support study start-up activities, including protocol development, ethics submissions, regulatory approvals, and required documentation.

  • Monitor project timelines, deliverables, risks, and progress, and follow up on pending activities.

  • Assist in preparing manuscripts, abstracts, research articles, case studies, and presentations for publication and dissemination.

  • Support research grant development and submission, including required documentation and budgeting.

  • Maintain research databases, study files, ERC records, protocols, approval letters, publications, and monitoring reports.

  • Provide technical and operational support using research tools and software including REDCap, SPSS, EndNote, EpiData, and MS Office.

  • Prepare research, grant, monitoring, and departmental reports and progress updates.

  • Support research meetings, workshops, training sessions, academic activities, and other departmental initiatives.

  • Ensure compliance with ethical standards, confidentiality requirements, institutional policies, and regulatory requirements.

  • Provide guidance and support to junior research staff and trainees involved in research projects.

  • Perform other duties assigned by the Principal Investigator, supervisor, or department.



Eligibility Criteria / Requirements:

 

  • MBBS/MD along with an MSc in Clinical Research or Epidemiology from a reputable local or international university.

  • One to two years of relevant work experience in a reputable organization.

  • Prior research experience and publications will be preferred.

  • Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods, scientific literature search, data collection, analysis, and interpretation.

  • Strong writing, editing, analytical, and research skills.

  • Experience with research and data management software such as REDCap, SPSS, EndNote, and MS Office.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively coordinate and build relationships with multiple stakeholders.

  • Willingness to travel to field sites within and outside Karachi, as required.
