Senior Power BI Developer Finance-Focused

Location: Gurugram or Jammu, India

Requirements

Financial Domain Knowledge (Highly Desirable)

• Previous experience building financial reporting dashboards OR working with accounting/finance systems
  
• Understanding of core financial metrics: gross margin, EBITDA, utilisation, cost-to-serve, project profitability
  
• Experience with management accounts, customer profitability analysis, divisional P&Ls, or budget variance reporting
  
• Ability to understand business context behind financial data and identify insights
  
• Strongly preferred: MSP, professional services, or project-based business experience where billable utilisation and project margins matter
  

Systems Integration Experience (Highly Desirable)

• Experience integrating accounting platforms (Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, NetSuite) with reporting tools
  
• Experience with PSA tools (Halo, ConnectWise, Autotask, Datto) or similar time tracking/project management systems
  
• Demonstrated ability to create unified reporting models from multiple data sources
  

Power BI Technical Skills

• 3-5 years hands-on Power BI development experience
  
• Advanced DAX: measures, calculated columns, time intelligence, complex calculations
  
• Power Query: ETL, data transformation, M language
  
• Data modelling: star schema, relationship management, performance optimisation
  
• Power BI Service: workspace management, gateway configuration, scheduled refreshes, RLS
  
• SQL proficiency: T-SQL queries, joins, views, stored procedures
  

Professional Skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  
• Excellent communication – ability to explain technical concepts to finance professionals and financial concepts to technical teams
  
• Self-starter capable of working independently with Finance Director guidance
  
• Experience gathering requirements from business stakeholders
  

Experience & Skills Required

• 5+ years overall BI/Analytics experience with 3–5 years hands-on Power BI development in production environments.
  
• Strong experience building financial reporting dashboards (management accounts, P&L, EBITDA, gross margin, utilization, project profitability).
  
• Advanced DAX, Power Query (M), and data modelling (star schema, performance optimization) plus strong SQL/T-SQL skills.
  
• Experience integrating accounting systems such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, or NetSuite with reporting platforms.
  
• Experience working with PSA/project systems (e.g., ConnectWise, HaloPSA) and building unified reporting models from multiple data sources.
  
• Ability to translate finance stakeholder requirements into scalable, secure reporting solutions; MSP/professional services experience preferred.
