Deputy Manager-Production ( Drug Product )

Job Description

The role is responsible for executing filling and packing operations in compliance with approved Batch Filling Records (BFR), Batch Packing Records (BPR), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP). The incumbent ensures timely completion of production activities, maintenance of accurate manufacturing records, adherence to data integrity requirements, and compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory standards. The position involves material verification, finished goods handling, equipment and area cleanliness, environmental monitoring, SAP transactions, and coordination with cross-functional departments such as QA, QC, Stores, Engineering & Maintenance, and Supply Chain Management. Additionally, the role is responsible for documentation activities including deviations, change controls, CAPA, market complaints, SOP preparation/revision, and batch record review, while supporting uninterrupted plant operations and maintaining production efficiency.

Job Summary:**

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Deputy Manager-Production to oversee and optimize drug product manufacturing operations at our state-of-the-art facility. This role involves ensuring efficient production, adherence to quality standards, and continuous process improvement.

Job Responsibilities:**

• Lead and supervise a team of production operators and technicians, ensuring high performance and adherence to safety protocols.
• Plan, organize, and control daily production activities to meet manufacturing targets and schedules for drug products.
• Monitor and troubleshoot production processes, identifying and implementing solutions to optimize efficiency and minimize downtime.
• Ensure strict compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, MHRA), and company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Review and approve batch manufacturing records, deviations, CAPAs, and other production-related documentation.
• Participate in investigations of deviations, non-conformances, and quality incidents, implementing corrective and preventive actions.
• Collaborate with Quality Assurance, Engineering, and Supply Chain departments to ensure seamless operations and timely product release.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including process optimization, waste reduction, and cost-saving measures.
• Provide training and development to production staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and skill enhancement.
• Prepare and present production reports to senior management, highlighting key performance indicators and areas for improvement.
  
  

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Pharmacy, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, or a related scientific discipline.
• 18 - 12 years of experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory or leadership role within drug product production.
• In-depth knowledge of GMP, regulatory guidelines (e.g., ICH, USFDA, EMA), and quality systems relevant to pharmaceutical manufacturing.
• Proven experience in managing and optimizing manufacturing processes for various drug product formulations (e.g., tablets, capsules, injectables, liquids).
• Strong understanding of manufacturing equipment and technologies used in pharmaceutical production.
• Excellent leadership, team management, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to process improvement.
• Proficiency in using manufacturing execution systems (MES) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) software.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, regulated environment and manage multiple priorities.
