Windows Server Engineer

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Windows Server Engineer/Architect. In this role, you will be a key player in our customers cloud transformation journey, focusing on migrating and modernizing their on premises Windows Server environments to Google Cloud. You will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and managing a hybrid infrastructure, with a strong focus on a large scale file server migration project. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Windows Server, Active Directory, and a proven track record of successful cloud migration projects.

Responsibilities:

• Design and Architect: Lead the design and architecture of hybrid cloud solutions, encompassing on-premises Windows Server environments and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Active Directory Management: Manage and maintain Active Directory, including Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and related services, and plan for AD migration and integration with Google Clouds Managed Service for Microsoft Active Directory.
• File Server Migration: Plan, execute, and manage a large-scale file server migration from on-premises servers to Google Cloud Storage solutions.
• This includes data integrity validation and user support post-migration.
• Cloud Migration: Act as a subject matter expert for migrating Windows-based workloads to Google Cloud, including "lift and shift" and refactoring approaches.
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Develop and maintain automation scripts using PowerShell and other tools for infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and migration tasks.
• System Administration: Perform ongoing administration of Windows Server environments, including installation, configuration, patching, and performance tuning.
• Security: Implement and maintain security best practices for Windows Server and Active Directory in a hybrid environment, in line with a Zero Trust security model.
• Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, network engineers, and project managers, to ensure successful project delivery.
• Documentation: Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, runbooks, and migration plans.

Required Qualifications

• :Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
• .5+ years of experience in Windows Server administration, with expertise in Windows Server 2016/2019/2022
• .Proven experience with Active Directory design, implementation, and administration in a large-scale enterprise environment
• .Demonstrated experience with at least one major cloud platform (Google Cloud, AWS, or Azure), with a strong preference for Google Cloud
• .Hands-on experience with file server migration projects, including the use of tools like Robocopy, and scripting with PowerShell
• .Strong understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN

.Preferred Qualifications

• :Google Cloud Certified - Professional Cloud Architect or other relevant Google Cloud certifications
• .Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate or other relevant Microsoft certifications
• .Experience with Google Cloud migration tools and services, such as Migrate for Compute Engine and Storage Transfer Service
• .Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform
• .Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes
• .Experience in a consulting or customer-facing role
