About The Role

We are seeking experienced software engineers at the tech lead level to join our innovative team working on large language model (LLM) evaluation and training datasets. This role is pivotal in building datasets that enable LLMs to tackle realistic software engineering problems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in working with high-quality public GitHub repositories and possess hands-on experience in software development, environment automation, and issue management. Your contributions will directly impact the creation of verifiable software engineering tasks based on public repository histories, with an emphasis on synthetic approaches and human-in-the-loop methodologies. You will collaborate closely with researchers to identify challenging repositories and issues, evaluate test coverage, and improve the robustness of datasets for training next-generation AI models.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of professional experience in software engineering, with a strong emphasis on JavaScript and TypeScript. Proficiency in version control systems like Git, containerization tools such as Docker, and familiarity with software pipeline setup are essential. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to understand and navigate complex codebases, run and modify projects locally, and evaluate code quality effectively. Experience contributing to open-source projects or assessing open-source repositories is highly desirable. Additional experience in AI research, evaluation projects, or automation tools will be considered a plus, as it aligns with the innovative nature of our work.

Responsibilities

Your daily responsibilities will include analyzing and triaging GitHub issues across trending open-source libraries, setting up and configuring code repositories, and automating development environments through Dockerization and other tools. You will evaluate unit test coverage and quality, modify codebases locally to assess LLM performance in bug-fixing scenarios, and collaborate with researchers to identify repositories and issues that challenge AI models. There will also be opportunities to lead and mentor junior engineers, fostering a collaborative team environment. Your work will contribute to building comprehensive datasets for LLM training, ensuring a diverse coverage of programming languages and difficulty levels, and supporting the development of verifiable software engineering tasks.
