Job Overview:

Join Qualcomm’s Multimedia Systems Group as a Voice AI Systems Engineer, driving innovation in on-device AI for next-generation multimedia technologies. You will focus on R&D and implementation of Voice AI systems, with special emphasis on always on AI that support Agentic AI use cases. Your work will enable system design, development and evaluation of Agentic AI, ASR, TTS, and multilingual translation, powering intelligent voice-driven experiences..

Responsibilities

Implementation and R&D of Voice AI systems, focusing on HW AI acceleration for efficient on-device intelligence.

Develop, train, and optimize Voice AI models (ASR, TTS, NLP, Translation, Summarization, Language Modeling) for deployment on embedded hardware (NPU, GPU, CPU).

Design and prototype systems supporting Agentic AI, enabling continuous, context-aware voice and data capture.

Conduct evaluation and testing for Agentic AI features, including ASR, TTS, and translation notebook workflows.

Perform competitive analysis and benchmarking of open-source and proprietary model variants, focusing on system-level integration and performance.

Collaborate with cross-functional R&D and Systems teams for use case validation, efficient hardware offload, and commercialization support.

Develop automated test suites and evaluation pipelines for Agentic AI, ASR, TTS, and translation notebook.

Document system architecture, implementation strategies, and evaluation results for internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

Strong programming skills in C/C++, Python.

Experience with ML inference optimizations and deployment on embedded platforms.

Knowledge of fixed-point programming

Proficiency in designing, implementing, and training deep learning models using frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, ONNX.

Knowledge of ML architectures (Transformers, LSTM, GRU) and recent trends (diffusion models, U-Nets, BERT, BART).

Experience with ASR, TTS, NLP, and multilingual translation applications.

Familiarity with model quantization, compression, and hardware acceleration techniques.

Expertise in developing and debugging software for embedded systems and AI hardware accelerators (NPU, GPU).

Experience with system-level evaluation, automated testing, and benchmarking for voice AI features.

Knowledge of computer architecture, operating systems, data structures, and multi-threaded programming (POSIX, PTHREADS).

Excellent communication, presentation, and teamwork skills; ability to work independently and across global teams.

Educational Qualification

Bachelor’s/Master’s/PhD degree in Engineering, Electronics and Communication, Computer Science, or related field.

2+ years of experience in Voice AI, Audio ML Model development, or related work

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience.

Masters degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 1+ year of Systems Engineering or related work experience.

OR

PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
