Overview

The Sr. Smallworld Developer will be responsible for Smallworld customization and Magik development activities while mentoring junior team members on development best practices. This role requires strong expertise in Smallworld Suite products, data migration projects, and Agile development methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Take complete ownership of assigned tasks and modules through development and delivery.
• Develop and customize applications using Magik within the Smallworld environment.
• Perform unit testing, write MUnit test cases, and ensure quality deliverables.
• Provide technical leadership, troubleshooting, and problem-solving support to the team.
• Mentor junior developers on Magik development standards and best practices.
• Support development and delivery activities using Smallworld 5, PNI/BM/PRA or EO, DM, FME, Oracle, Magik, and Java technologies.
• Participate in data migration and Smallworld upgrade projects to Smallworld 5.
• Work within Agile development and project management methodologies.
• Prepare and maintain functional and technical project documentation.
• Utilize Git for source code management and version control practices.
• Collaborate effectively with project teams and stakeholders to ensure successful project execution.
  
  

Qualifications

• 4–6 years of overall experience in Smallworld development and customization.
• Strong architectural understanding of Smallworld 5.
• Hands-on expertise in EO/GDO or PNI, DM, CASE Tool, Data Model, FME, Oracle, Magik, and Java programming.
• Experience working on at least one data migration project.
• Strong knowledge of Magik development, unit testing, and MUnit framework.
• Experience working in Agile development environments.
• Experience with Smallworld upgrade projects and migration to Smallworld 5.
• Familiarity with Git-based source code management practices.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and technical leadership skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in Hindi and English.
• Team-oriented mindset with a proactive and positive attitude.
