Position Objective
Enovix India R&D invites applications for a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer with profound expertise in SolidWorks. This strategic role is instrumental in optimizing the design, simulation, and manufacturing workflows for our cutting-edge battery cells. The incumbent will be responsible for translating innovative concepts into robust, manufacturable designs, thereby bridging the critical gap between R&D and production readiness and ensuring the integrity and performance of our next-generation battery technology.
Key Responsibilities
Advanced CAD Modeling & Simulation Preparedness:
Develop highly accurate and complex 3D part and assembly models of battery components and fixture systems using SolidWorks, ensuring meticulous attention to detail, including watertight surfaces and optimized geometry for FEA.
Manage and maintain CAD data integrity within PDM/PLM systems (e.g., TeamCenter), streamlining part/assembly retrieval and version control.
Rectify and refine existing CAD models to eliminate geometric imperfections, thereby accelerating simulation cycles and enhancing analysis accuracy.
Implementation Of Design For Excellence (DFx)
Proactively integrate Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles into the initial stages of the design process.
Generate parametric models that inherently incorporate manufacturing constraints, material specifications, and critical tolerances (e.g., for laser-cutting, precision stamping).
Produce comprehensive, drawing-ready models that facilitate rigorous DFM/DFA validation, minimizing discrepancies between design intent and manufactured reality.
Cross-Functional Engineering Support
Simulation Enhancement: Deliver optimized CAD models to the simulation team, significantly reducing pre-processing time for FEA and enabling a greater number of design iterations for performance validation.
Prototyping Acceleration: Create detailed, GD&T-compliant manufacturing drawings that expedite prototyping, reduce assembly errors, and shorten testing timelines.
Intellectual Property: Generate clear, precise, and unambiguous drawings suitable for patent applications, effectively capturing novel design features.
Innovation In Battery Cell Design
Design and model ultra-thin cell structures, incorporating features to mitigate stress concentrations, pre-optimized for FEA.
Develop innovative venting systems and other critical battery components, ensuring designs are both functionally superior and accurately represented in CAD for manufacturability assessment.
Conceptualize, model, and iterate on novel cell, ensuring structural integrity for simulation and alignment with Enovixs manufacturing capabilities.
Collaborative Design And Process Optimization
Engage in iterative design cycles with the simulation team: rapidly modify CAD models based on simulation feedback to achieve optimized and validated designs.
Partner with the process engineering team to co-develop precision tooling and fixtures, such as electrode alignment jigs, critical for achieving micron-level manufacturing accuracy.
Engineering Documentation And Standards Adherence
Translate conceptual sketches and preliminary design inputs into fully dimensioned, GD&T-compliant engineering drawings suitable for procurement and manufacturing.
Establish and maintain meticulous version control and archival procedures for all CAD data, ensuring traceability and adherence to "Casing_V4_FINAL_FINAL_THIS_TIME_WE_MEAN_IT"-level finality.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related discipline.
Minimum 4-5 years of professional experience in mechanical design, with a strong portfolio demonstrating advanced proficiency in SolidWorks (complex part/assembly modeling, surfacing, large assembly management).
Expert-level understanding and application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5 standards.
Proven experience in preparing and optimizing CAD models for Finite Element Analysis (FEA), including mesh generation considerations and geometry simplification.
In-depth knowledge and practical application of DFM/DFA principles for precision components and assemblies.
Demonstrated ability to create comprehensive, production-quality manufacturing drawings.
Proficiency with PDM/PLM systems (TeamCenter highly preferred).
Experience designing for high-volume manufacturing processes (e.g., laser cutting, stamping, precision assembly) is highly advantageous.
Prior experience in battery technology, consumer electronics, automotive, or a similar high-technology R&D environment is preferred.
Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary, global team.
