Software Engineer II – Edge Extensions Services

Edge Extensibility team owns Edge Browser Extensions story end to end – where you will get opportunity to delight developer community, win consumer mindshare with differentiated experiences and innovate on growth ideas. The team owns extension developer flow, browser client experience, extensions API platform, high scale services interfacing browser clients and powering developer flow and extensions store. You will work on web services utilizing multiple Azure technologies such as App Service, APIM, Cosmos DB, Service Fabric, and many others. You will also work within the Edge client codebase (derived from the Chromium Project).  Youll get to collaborate with a diverse community of engineers.

Starting January 26, 2026, Microsoft AI (MAI) employees who live within a 50- mile commute of a designated Microsoft office in the U.S. or 25-mile commute of a non-U.S., country-specific location are expected to work from the office at least four days per week. This expectation is subject to local law and may vary by jurisdiction.

Responsibilities

  • Work on Azure-based microservices (App Service, APIM, Functions, Storage, Service Fabric etc.) to support large-scale distributed workflows for services development.
  • Design, implement, and maintain Extensions Publishing and Extensions Addons Store related services. Build new AI capabilities on these products.
  • Drive initiatives independently and iterate quickly to deliver impactful solutions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Enforce rigorous quality engineering practices throughout all stages of product development and deployment. Including prod support of services owned in team.
  • Stay updated on new technologies, tools, methods, and industry best practices, including those from Microsoft. Adapt to product and technology landscape based on need in the team.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of professional industry experience working on large projects
  • Experience with C#/C++/Java with a good knowledge of Data Structures/Algorithms
  • Experience with web services development.
  • Exposure to engineering & system design for large web applications & services.
  • Excellent design, coding, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Microservices and Azure cloud infrastructure.
  • Exposure to engineering system design and patterns for web services.
  • Experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript.  
  • Experience with Frontend frameworks such as Angular, React and other web technologies is a plus.
  • Experience of architecting and integrating AI/ML tech stacks, experience with production-grade LLM workflows and ability to drive efficiency through advanced prompt engineering is a plus.  
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
